I just seen on RTV "Tractor Fever": The original Wheel Horse red was supposed to be as close to International Red as possible. And International Red was originally called "Oxblood red".........And the reason International went to RED was because the original tractors were grey......and with the invention of automobiles too many cars were hitting the grey tractors because they could not see them.

A good thing I guess........cause if not, REDSQUARE would seem stupid if all our tractors were grey!

well, it's better than Oxbloodsquare

ed :thumbs:that made me dizzy

Retired Wrencher

 :thumbs: I will add my 2 cents I use Rustoleum Sunrise Red it is very close to the original color, on the 57`s series tractors. under the shift plate. I hope this helps. and it is under $4.00 a can at Walmart. Gary B.............

A buddy of mine just restored a 1955 Farmall 400... I took one of my Wheel Horse parts over there to see how close it was to his red... I think it was EXACTLY the same, if it wasn't a direct match, it would take a VERY trained eye to determine it was different.

Go with the IH red!!!!

Make sure you post some pics
