baerpath 517 #1 Posted February 27, 2011 Ram for the lift on the 18 started leaking today. Are the rams rebuildable ? It's leaking around the rod probobly just needs a new seal and wiper. If not rebuildable I guess I'll be looking for a new ram Duane
stevebo-(Moderator) 8,041 #2 Posted February 28, 2011 Duane, I do not believe they are rebuildable. I have seen them used on JD too. The ends are different than most.
racinfool40 202 #3 Posted February 28, 2011 Duane they all can be rebuilt to my knowledge if you have they welded type you can cut the welds or take it to a machine shop and they can cut the welds with a lathe. Marshall " Indy WH " has seals to rebuild them. Then you can reweld the end cap back on!! here's a link to rebuild them.. http://www.mywheelhorse.com/graphics/file/Lifts/810242R1.pdf
wh79d160 52 #4 Posted February 28, 2011 Stevebo is correct, They aren't rebuildable. When I bought one of mine the PO said he had one of the lift cylinders rebuilt by a local hydraulic shop. They cut the back off rebuilt it & welded it back on. Only one problem, it still leaked. I replaced it with a used one. good luck
