Club Trip: Kern Family Tractors (picture heavy)

Recommended Posts

Buzz

On Saturday 2-19-11, ten members of the South Jersey Gas Engine Club travelled to Shippensburg PA to see the Kern Family Tractors of Yesteryear collection. All I can say is WOW. They have in their collection 84 International Harvester tractors, garden tractors, skid steers, forklifts, milkers, refrigerators, air conditioners, and just about anything that IH made. A few years ago they had an auction and sold off 53 non-International tractors. It was a little cramped in the buildings so I could't get as many clear photos an I would have liked but will give a general idea of what we saw. Mrs. Kern made a big batch of homemade molasses cookies, pecan tarts, and the best maple-walnut fudge that I ever ate. On the way home we stopped in a Harry Barricks store and tractor junk yard but couldn't get in the barns. Oh yeah, we stopped at the Dutch-Way Country Buffet on route 41 in Christiana PA on the way home and made pigs of ourselves as usual. Our club is always looking for new members so if you don't live too far from Woodstown NJ we meet the second Thursday of every month upstairs in the municipal building. All are welcome.

A neat tractor lift that sinks down to floor level so you can drive, not trip, over it.

I'm not too familiar with Willys Jeeps, but here are two better pictures of it. I would have liked to have got a really close look at it.
