Docwheelhorse 2,740 #1 Posted February 21, 2011 Hey Folks, how cool was it to see the old #21 Woods Brothers Motorcraft Ford in victory lane with a brand new rookie that turned 20 yesterday driving. I was routing for Dale Jr. all day but was very happy to see the"kid" win it all in his first shot. Tony
VinsRJ 723 #2 Posted February 21, 2011 I was impressed, I'm not a big Nascar fan but the race was good.
jdpuller 2 #3 Posted February 21, 2011 great race I dont usualy root for fords but it was fun to watch a underdog win. I hope a sponser picks him up so they can continue it would be a shame to have to sit out after such a impresive speed weeks.

Ken B 3,189 #5 Posted February 21, 2011 I'm an old Earnhardt fan from all the back to the 80's so naturally I have to root for the kid now. I was tellin the old lady early during the race what would be cooler than seeing the Woods brothers old # 21 win. It really wasn't a fluke or lucky win for the kid either, he was up front and competitive all day. I was super happy they won.
Brrly1 1,146 #6 Posted February 21, 2011 I have to agree it was good to see the Wood bros back in victory lane. There sure have been alot of drivers wander thru the #21. Hopefully he'll go full time. If I remember correctly he drove Nascar trucks for a year or so and did some part time Natonwide driving. A Good win for sure.
theoldwizard1 2 #7 Posted February 21, 2011 I have always been a fan of the Woods brothers ! Still using basically the same paint scheme from 30-40 years ago.
theoldwizard1 2 #8 Posted February 21, 2011 Slightly off topic. Just how do they make a pushrod engine that can hold together for over 500 miles and spin OVER 9,000 rpm, lap after lap ?
Dockfishin 51 #9 Posted February 21, 2011 Was neat seeing the woods bros. win, but that's not racing the way they have it set up.. cant stand the racing the way it is on the superspeedways now. Dale SR. would have been voicing loudly how bad this was, of that I'm sure. He always said it wasn't racing even back then the way it was. I can't wait for bristol or martinsville now that's racing The only race I'd like to see in person now is the night bristol race.
mavfreak 11 #10 Posted February 21, 2011 Slightly off topic. Just how do they make a pushrod engine that can hold together for over 500 miles and spin OVER 9,000 rpm, lap after lap ? My uncle works for the Bill Davis truck team, as a disassembler. When I was there one time at there shop I asked that question and was told that its all in the assembly. If there off the slightest bit on any of the tolerances then BOOM! They also test there engines at RPMs over the 9000 mark. I was there when they were running the engine dino. WOW even in a sound prof room it was shaking the windows. The engines are basically set up to run for the weekend. That includes testing, qualifying and race. They know what the life span is for there engines even to the seconds on a race weekend. If they lose an engine the assemblers here it, big time! But I really wasn't told much else cause its a secret on what they do. And got Alot of answers in the from of "Cause we just know"
mavfreak 11 #11 Posted February 21, 2011 By the way Good job Woods brothers! I may have found a driver to root for cause all of mine have retired! I also seen a rookie win at Charlotte running in my favorite drivers car can you guess who that was?
