MikesRJ 558 #51 Posted April 23, 2011 Great work as always Charlie. Can;t wait to see you tooling around in it.
clintonnut 127 #52 Posted April 23, 2011 Thanks for the comments! I decided to go with no camo for now and just put the id numbers on the bumpers. One thing nice about camo is you can put it on anytime! Charlie
Ken B 3,202 #53 Posted April 24, 2011 I think it will look even cooler now with just the green.
MikesRJ 558 #54 Posted April 24, 2011 Charlie, Not sure what period markings you plan to put on the truck, but here's a numbering primer for WWII. http://www.stugiii.com/images/US_Vehicle_Markings.pdf
clintonnut 127 #55 Posted April 26, 2011 Thanks Mike! Just need paint Got fenders for $20 each so will be finishing the front clip this week. Charlie
MikesRJ 558 #56 Posted April 26, 2011 Charlie, I have an idea for a truck number: Left side of Bumpers: 101AB 506PI Right Side of Bumpers: HQ-E1
HorseFixer 2,013 #57 Posted May 1, 2011 Fantastic job Charlie! You do good work!
clintonnut 127 #58 Posted May 5, 2011 Well after a doctors appt to get wisdom teeth out , i came home and put the new fuel pump line on, and started it up! Well, i had to add 1 wire but it gives off a nice throaty idle. Tomorrow will finish brake and clutch bleeding and plan on green next thursday or friday. http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp19/de...ff/fd82322b.mp4 Charlie
clintonnut 127 #59 Posted May 6, 2011 Freakin awesome day! Got the brakes and clutch done, exhaust and some interior and took it around the block. Couldn't be any happier! Shifts nice, brakes and steers nice, power is AWSOME, sound is AWESOME! Plan to paint the rest of it and assemble it next week. Bed work ugh. I will probably just straighten it and paint after i inspect it. Charlie
sgtsampay 117 #60 Posted May 6, 2011 Looks great! Are you going to bring it to the show?

clintonnut 127 #62 Posted May 7, 2011 Did all the fabrication on the fenders today! SO SO much work. Need to find some spare sheet metal for the future... Both needed new hood support mounts and a lower fender patch... test fit: Then wheel arch repair on the passengers side so I robbed one off the old fender: Put bondo on one today and rust treated the other. Hoping to spray them tomorrow and assemble the front clip. Here's another video: http://s393.photobucket.com/albums/pp19/de...nt=84398c70.mp4 Charlie
bell 11 #63 Posted May 7, 2011 Looks REALLY good dude! You gotta love that "less than shiny" paint... Makes bodywork MUCH easier! Awesome rig! I would LOVE to build something like that someday, to play around with.... Or, just put a Cummins in my '27 Dodge Brothers Rat.... :wh:
clintonnut 127 #64 Posted May 9, 2011 Tadaa!!!! My high school shop class friend came over and gave me a hand! Then did a little break in..... 250ft 3rd gear no brakes... Charlie
Rollerman 290 #65 Posted May 9, 2011 Charlie....I wish my 16 1/2 year old son had a 10th of the ambition you have. The effort your putting into your "sick" OD green Dodge will make you appreciate it all the more. :hide:
Buzz 502 #66 Posted May 9, 2011 Then did a little break in..... 250ft 3rd gear no brakes... Charlie Ahh, I love the smell of burning rubber on Mosquito Lane. Smells like victory........... Looking good Charlie :hide:
clintonnut 127 #67 Posted May 13, 2011 Insurance starts monday and registration tuesday! Truck is really close now. Working on bed, got the gas tank done, gauges almost done! Lights work great! Starting to be straightened out! Charlie
clintonnut 127 #68 Posted May 14, 2011 Sandblasted the rear bumper and painted it and the front of the bed. Decided to change the gauges.... Speedometer lights up blue with my added light in the housing when no dash lights are on but high beams are and with dash lights on it is a blend. clintonnut 127 #69 Posted May 16, 2011 Going to stick the taillights and fuel filler in tomorrow and im ready to go! Still need bondo and paint but bed is really straight now. I also welded the tail light extensions to the quarters for more strength so they don't crack like my dads. Its really true because with this mod the tail gate closes with one finger! I also welded in new gussets for the taillight extensions because the old ones were rusted out. Planning on getting it rhino lined in the next month... truckin88 104 #70 Posted May 16, 2011 Charlie, since you are a DIY guy, look at Herculiner, a bunch of Jeep guys had great success applying it with a roller. Looks great!
wheelhorse656 20 #71 Posted May 16, 2011 Charlie, since you are a DIY guy, look at Herculiner, a bunch of Jeep guys had great success applying it with a roller. Looks great! what about a spray in liner like what my grandpa put in his truck? it matches the color of his truck its durable it has grit to keep stuff from sliding around. and it comes with everything you need to to spray it with and put in with. i can get you the name brand of it if you would like. MikesRJ 558 #73 Posted May 16, 2011 I can just envision Charlie now, scrambling to get it done before the "Big Show" so he can drive Dad to the Show for the first time! You're doing great kid, keep it up. Hope you got enough green left for gas. :hide:
clintonnut 127 #74 Posted May 18, 2011 Damn... had plans to drive it tomorrow and went to the auto tag place and realized I do not have a sellers signature on the title. Apparently it hasn't been signed by the last 2 owners and the last title holder was on oxygen as of 2 years ago..... This might get UGLY! Charlie
