I know Steve (Stevebo) built and was trying to market a custom 3-point hitch for one of the later model tractors. I saw it in person and it was built like a tank and worked very well. I think another member here helped him design and produce it also. Maybe that's something you could do the commercial on - like a new product. Reach out to him if you think its something you could use. He's also one of the moderators here as well.

How bout dressing up like a Viking......get in a canoe....paddle up to the bank....get out......get on one of your Wh's.... and ride off in the sunset. Call it "Better to ride a horse than to paddle around".

Does this have to be a "real" product? Am I correct that you'll be screening this for your fellow class members? Are you working alone, or with a group?

Assuming this is a project that will be viewed by your peers, I think a little humor can really kick things up a notch (if you're comfortable with that). Just like in "real" commercials, if you're making all the right selling points, getting your message across, AND your target audience is laughing, you've probably hit a home run.

My high school-aged son and I bounced it around, and really liked the idea of doing a "Billy Mays" type infomercial, where you come up with a product that you describe, then show some "amazing" demonstration of what it does. Follow that with a visual of why people are helpless without this product, and/or why competitive products are a total "fail". Then, you give the price..."You'd probably expect to pay $59, or even $69 for such an amazing widget. But you won't pay $69, or $59. You wont even pay $39. Would you believe not even $29!" (In the end, the price is almost always $19.95)

And of course, you can't leave off the "But wait....there's more!", where you sweeten the offer by giving them double, or by throwing in some other "trinkets".

Once you've got your product and sales pitch...all you need is a spokesperson with a blue, button-up shirt & white t-shirt, khakis, and a fake beard. (If the beard looks ridiculous, all the better!)

I've attached a few links to YouTube videos, both actual Mays infomercials, and also to some parodies, just to get the creative juices flowing. Obviously, whether this works or not really depends on the details of the assignment, what you are supposed to accomplish, the teacher, and what resources you have to work with. Anyway....just my two cents!

Good luck, and no matter what you decide to go with, don't forget to post a link the finished product here!
