Jim_M 178 #27 Posted February 6, 2011 got a call from the guy with the engine. he told me to look at this on ebay, this is the same engine just he said his is bigger. It looks awful tall. I think I will jsut save up and got this route, as these ltitle diesels seems to barley use any fuel and are easy to maintine. I also love the fact that they can be pull started. Thanks for the inspiration. Also, got any pictures of you putting it on the horse an such? Lastly, does it start hard in the cold weather? Any tricks to get it to start easy? hm12460 53 #38 Posted February 12, 2011 Justin, i'm going to do a diesel swap also, probably a year from this spring on my 312-8. I would not recommend buying the used engine you are contemplating, unless you KNOW FOR SURE it is compatible with your donor tractor. As cheap as new one's are, i just don't think it's worth the effort. If you can get it dirt cheap, might be okay to use just for the experience until it dies. Parts availability is important.
