Snowblowing

Recommended Posts

I am aware that a K series kohler engine max rpm's is 3600. When blowing snow is it safe to keep it revved up to 3000 while cleaning up., and if so how long is to safe to maintain these rpm's.

Heck, wind it up to 3600 and keep on clearing the snow. The motor will be fine.

Unless it's otherwise stated in the manual, attachments are designed to operate best and most efficiently at wide open throttle - which is usually closer to 3200-3300 rpm.

The engines used in these tractors were designed to run at full governed speed "all day (or night) long", so it's really nothing to worry about.

I actually set my smaller Kohlers (K141/161/181's) to turn 4000 no-load rpm so they only drop to about 3500/3600 when under load. That's where they're making the most horsepower. :banghead:
