Not again!

Ok, many of get all excited at the beginning of the snow season, but enough is enough. We have about 2" of new snow, school is closed (AGAIN!) and it's still coming down. The forecast is for another 5-9 tomorrow and the week after is showing even more.

All when I didn't hook up the snow blower (which is completely burried in the shed behind the hibernating C-160 and 416. I'm running out of places to push this stuff.

Karl, I would say you could send it my way but it just seems to avoid us. It either goes south of us or to the north of us. Actually its kind of a bummer because I would really like to have something to do. I wish you luck. Mail came yesterday, Thanks :banghead:

Nylyon I here you. i started shoveling sidewalks for people as a way to get some extra cash. I have been getting up at 3 every morning and shoveling and salting. My shoulders never hurt so bad and my back is killing me. It seams we get a dusting every night or more and if it doesn't snow then there is drifting or ice. I know when the snow stops so does the work but I need a break.

Snow sucks, sorry for being so candid. :banghead:

Now lets be honest, if you were to pull that blower out of the shed right now, it would snow again until next January

No one else close to you to borrow a blower? I'd rather have a winter like this and snow than one withjust plain old blasted cold. Up here last friday -26 degrees in the am, then sat. eve it was -16 degrees, but where I was sat. night it was 28 degrees!

Soooooo Karl . . . i'm sorry, but, I for one would like a reasonable explanation for this.

Karl,

What we have here is the old "Wash your car, it'll rain" scenario. I had a JD 214 and a snow blade a few years ago. After 3 winters, I only used the blade once and then, I really didn't need to as there wasn't enough snow to push. So, October 2002 I sell the snow blade and the tire chains. December 23 and 24 of that same year, 2 months after selling the blade, we get 18 inches. If you want snow, be unprepared. If you don't want snow, be all the way prepared. So, dig that snow blower out of the shed, put in on the tractor and presto, no more snow!

Now t-mo, that isn't necessarily true. I am always ready to move snow. This year it has not helped. I looked in my local paper last saturday and the quote was" 70 + inches so far and 2 months til spring". Well, I have moved all of it. We must be in the right place wrong time this year. If the weather man says "dusting" I get 3 inches. If he says 2" to 4" I get 8". I am not complaining because last week was our coldest so far(friday morning, thermometer said -31 degrees). The tractors are all tucked away in winter slumber. The Bobcat gets the call for that much work. Karl, I will tell you what I'll do. You come on up here, bring some trucks with ya. And I will GIVE you all the snow you want. I will even load it for ya . Then you can haul it all home, spread it in your driveway and make your neighbors jealous :D:hide::hide: . Oh yeah, 1" to 3" tonight :banghead:. Oh well, only 2 months til spring :ROTF:. Pat

You must have misread Karl's post - he doesn't want anymore snow.

Nah, I never understood why people get so excited about pushing snow. I don't mind doing it once, maybe even twice, a year, but I rather not do it every week. It's too cold. I rather mow than move snow.

I decided that this year, the Jeep would stay in the garage along with the Nissan. That meant that the 414-8 with the plow would stay in the driveway (under cover) unless there was snow predicted in which case, I'd move the Jeep close to the wall and put the 414 in the garage.

The past couple of days have been well below zero, like -17

Sounds like the luck we have been having here in southern MI. I have only plowed once and really didn't need to but felt like playing.. They do not really show much of anything coming my way in the 8 day forcast either..

I would admit I am not nearly sick of it yet. Heck I am even still doing the sides of the house and the backyard :banghead:

Do you do the yard so you can go switch to the mower deck to mow? :banghead::thumbs::ROTF: :hide:

Well I don't do the entire back yard... but I do quite a lot. I need to get to the back shed and like the back door cleared out. So I just loop around the whole house. But I guess the answer is yes, sort of...I do need to make sure I can get to all the stuff in the back yard. But I do not enjoy mowing as much as moving snow. I do like moving or grading gravel almost as much as moving snow!
