Bell, Where you headed with this one?

Restore, Custom, Rod?

How 'bout a set of Zommie pipes turned up to your crotch!

That'll be a real "Satchel Burner"!

I guess you'd call it a resto-mod. I'm still planning it out in my head, but it will have bigger tires... and a M8 Kohler. You'll have to wait for the rest tho... :banghead:

Looks like a good "fly by the seat of your pants" project.

Perhaps some airplane wings, shark fin, steel spike tires, submarine propeller,... :banghead:

After removing all of this crap....

junior_026.jpg

It's starting to look a little better.

junior_023.jpg

Devin (fritz) and Gerald (gdpudge) stopped by today and brought another piece of the puzzle... THANKS FELLERS! :banghead:

junior_024.jpg

Here's the motorvation...

junior_025.jpg

I ordered the tires today (23x10.50 Duro Super Lugs and 4.00-8 Deestone tri-ribs), so I should be able to make some headway pretty soon.

AWESOME Rob! I'm glad you got a pic of that! :banghead:

Finished stripping it down today...

junior_028.jpg

This one, as with many 551's, was broken in half at some point in it's life. I can't imagine why they used 1/8" steel on the transmission mount.

junior_030.jpg

I cut off all the old and ground it smooth...

junior_031.jpg

Then, I cut out some new pieces...

junior_036.jpg

And welded it up...

I used 3/16" steel on the new pieces. Should be MUCH stronger. I'll probably add another brace on the bottom side, for peace of mind.

Thanks guys! I guess they're not too bad for 110V Flux Core... :banghead:

In preparation for the hoodstand, I did a little mockup today. I'm going to mimic the RJ hoodstand, to keep it simple...

junior_049.jpg

There looks to be enough room for a starter... If I ever run across a busted M8, I'll snag it. I could put the battery in the tool box, like the 550's.

junior_050.jpg

junior_052.jpg

Now, I have to work all weekend, so it will be a few days before any updates. JB
