604 eating to much

Recommended Posts

I think I'm feeding the 604 to much this winter. Seems to be gaining weight.

Don't knock your high quality lane grading apparatus..... I used a very similar one when I was growing up. Only I didn't use the slot hitch, just had a long piece of chain with quicklinks at the ends to pull it with. That way I could flip it over and put some weight on it and use the other side to dig a little if needed, and had directional grading control by where I hooked the chain. :banghead:

Im curious about the white paint vs. the "Linen" color that I have seen used and discussed on RJ58 restorations..

Did WH switch to pure white at some point?

Or do sometimes people do repaints with white just because they like it?

(not that there is anything wrong with that! :banghead:

thanks,

Scot

I guess i just like the white. I think it makes the red look more red. But it is just my preference.

ok! thats cool..

I was just wondering if there was a historic WH color switchover at some point..

(im going to be restoring a 1964 854, which I believe was "Linen") so I was just curious..

the white does look nice! very "clean and crisp"..

thanks,

Scot

There were around four intentionally different "whites" and at least that many "reds" used over the years.

That doesn't include batch variations or alternate suppliers.

Get it close - no one will take points off at a show. :banghead:

MY 64 604 was linen from the factory. I was in grade school at the time. I thought it was crappy white paint! :banghead:

Thanks for the additional pics. (I can see them alot better on the home computer)

I like the grader, it's a good idea. You did a nice job on the tractor. :banghead:

As far as the white paint goes, 1964 was a Linen Beige year from my understanding. I use a slight off white, (cream color), and I personally think it looks better than white. However, the reproduction seat covers on e-bay are white-white-white.

Hey Wheelie that's a great look

Can you tell me what size the AG's are on the rear? They look like perfect fit. I'm a little anal about that . . . :banghead:

That's a really nice looking tractor. I also like the way that the black sets off the rec and white :banghead:

Nice tractor. Those weights are a good idea. Seems like xx4's are a little light in the front with the Tec's in them. My 654 has set me on my butt a couple times.

The rear tire size is 23 x 10.5 x 12

1. Do you know if I can use that as a replacement to 23x8.5x12?

2. What brand did you go with?

I know sizes can vary between manufactures.

Thanks
