Have you checked the "kill" wire or switch?

Perhaps something is grounding when / where it shouldn't be.

Did you change the condenser?

I Didn't change the condenser. The engine is on a mid 1980's snow blower. Has a 2 safety swiches. Can I bypass the swiches?

Disconnect the ground ("kill") wire at the engine to snowblower connection for "diagnostic & troubleshooting" purposes only. If you get spark with the ground wire disconnected, it's in the harness/switches on the machine.

If you suspect a safety switch, test it's function with a meter and replace if bad. :ychain:

If you don't get spark with the wire disconnected, inspect the "kill" wire from the insulated stud at the points to where ever it terminates. These engines are notorious for that wire rubbing against the shield behind the flywheel (or any part of the engine itself) and grounding out the magneto (a.k.a. - a direct short to ground)

It could also just be the condenser. :D
