What I Do for Fun

Recommended Posts

Last year, MikesRJ did a tutorial on how to recondition a plastic dash panel. He used one of my panels for his subject, and I was so pleased with the results, that I decided to try it myself. After I successfully restored another of my dash panels, I decided that I would buy any plastic panels that I could find (that were reasonably priced), and recondition/restore them in my spare time.

I took some of them to the WHCC show last summer and they were sold before I could get them out of my van.

Here is an example of a before and after dash:

As you can see, I also did the same process to a center hub for a steering wheel.

Anyway, I just wanted to show you what I do in my spare time, and tell you that it is not all that difficult to do.

Last year before I learned how to do this, I spent many unsuccessful hours on eBay and RedSquare searching for a NOS dash panel, only to find that I already had what I was looking for. It just needed a little TLC.

Happy New Year to all

Bob

AMC RULES

They do look great. Only positive things can be said about someone who will take the time to restore the original vs. buying new. :ychain:
