trying to find out about an Illinois accident

Recommended Posts

So I was on the phone with a friend of mine who is an owner operator. I think he said he was about a 100 miles or so SW or SE of chicago. We were talking about the economy and fuel prices and how hard it would be to commit to buying all American for a month, (a whole nuther thread right there). (He told me how he was heating some little tubs of green beans in the microwave in his truck and was reading the box, and it said . . . "product of Taiwan") GREEN FREAKIN' BEANS!

He started saying something about looking for a grease gun made in the USA, and then said something about something happening right before his eyes. It took me a second to realize he had just seen a crazy accident.

There was a roll back on the median side of the highway, parked going the opposite direction, with the bed tilted down all the way. Beacons flashing and very visible. All the sudden he sees what he believed to be a blazer or something of the sort . . . AIRBORN . . . 20' in the air. It rolled upside down while in the air and landed on the roof upside down and skidded at least a couple hundred feet down the off ramp. My friend said the roll back driver was missed by a foot.

I was hoping one of you Illini could find out about it and let me know what you find out so I can let him know.

What do you want to bet the guy was using his phone? :ychain:

I got to ask this - was Trucker Buddy going down the road heating his beans?

Put truck on "cruise" then go to microwave :ychain:

Dont know anything about that accident, But from that kind of height I think there only chance is if they didnt have on a seat belt. In my younger days I flipped a 77 bronco tailgate over hood it landed flat and didnt scratch grill or hood but mashed cab flat against bed rails and steering wheel had serious road rash. Honestly elieve only reason Im here is somehow I ended up in floorboard. If I would have been wearing lap belt it would have took me off at the shoulders.

As long as you said Bronco! I did the same to a 76 Bronco, went to change lanes and traffic was stopped in left lane, lost control flipped it in ditch, I went out side window and ended up on hood, drivers side wiper went through left side of my mouth. Worst part was Bronco didn't make it. In the winter on snowy roads.

Rolled mine over used a FEL to pull up cab and drove it home. Jammed all the door post and tailgate so nothing would open. Intended to fix it But had just bought this house and lack of money finally pulled engine for another truck and slowly parted rest of it out. Still hate it though I am a BIG fan of that particular model.Almost (Almost) ubstoppable.
