sgtsampay 117 #29 Posted December 26, 2010 Aww thanks guys. Today I will not be working on the wheel horse, but instead goign to the range and shooting my new GSG .22lr 1911A1. I can;t wait! Yeah I gave up on the hub and decided to let it be. That puller is from 1913. LOL. Its super heavy. I wil continue work on the tranny once I get some parts for it. Cool - hadn't heard of the GSG before. Looks like a great price on that, I am a huge fan of the 1911 (and all John Browning designs). Have fun!
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #31 Posted December 26, 2010 Yeah I gave up on the hub and decided to let it be. Take the through bolts out of the differential (it can be done when it's still in the case - just take your time) and remove the left axle & end cap together. Once they're out of the way, remove the snap ring on the end of the right axle and pull it (with the hub still attached) out of the right case. Find someone with a hydraulic press and have the axle pressed out of the hub - before you break the hub or hurt yourself with that puller. :ychain:
sgtsampay 117 #32 Posted December 26, 2010 TT, is it really needed to get that hub off or can i just left it that way until I get an issue with it? Dgotte, here is a link to a review of it. http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=277715 It was a blast to shoot also.. Well worth the $50 I paid for it after I traded in a CZ52, and put $150 of Christmas money i got towards it. LOL.

TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #34 Posted December 26, 2010 TT, is it really needed to get that hub off or can i just left it that way until I get an issue with it? If you have it apart that far, you really should (at least) check the axle bearing and (definitely) replace the seal. If you try installing the splined end of the axle back through a new seal, it could ruin it, so you really need to get the hub removed.
chrisstrothoff 0 #35 Posted December 26, 2010 Since you did all that on Christmas, what are you going to get into on New Years ? :ychain:

Thanks rick and to all of you guys for reading and looking at my work. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks my work is pretty cool looking. :ychain:
