Are Raider & Charger Dashes the same???

Recommended Posts

Question:

Several people are asking if we have or we can make a Raider 12 Dash Panel. I can not find any pictures of the Raiders' Dash Panel itself, only side pictures of it.

From the side pictures seen here on Red Square, it looks like all the Dash Panels for all the 8 to 12hp, '69 to '71 Raiders and Chargers may be about the same.

The plastic dash panels weren't used on those models until 1971 and they have the push/pull control cables. 1972 went to the T handle controls, so they're obviously different.

As to how many different plates were used in those years...... you'd have to look each model up and compare part numbers.

Yes -- that's definitely 1971, Glen.

I'll see if I can come up with either an image (manual scan) or part number(s) - or both.

OK - that looks like a #101346 ~ which (according to reputable sources) was used on 1971 Workhorse 800 / 800 Special / Raider 10 & 12 and 1971 & 72(?) 800 Automatic models.

They are similar to the '71 800 Auto and others.

Glenn,

Can/will you reproduce the "texture" on that dash? I have a dash panel from an 800 Auto and it is listed as the same part number as the following:

Data removed: I stand corrected. Thanks TT

Here's the dash for a '71 800 Auto

EDIT:

... and the dash decals TT mentions below:

The scan I posted above actually is a 1971 800 Automatic, so TD's decals are the right ones. :ychain:

Also, I show the 800 Auto Dash Plate as part number 101346, which was found on models:

The plastic dash panel was not used on the 1968/69/70 models listed above.

Those models used #7379 and it is plated steel with the screen printing/black bottom.

#7222 was used on the 867/1067/1267 & '68 Commando 8 and it too was steel with the screen printing/black bottom.

WOW!

That is exactly the information I was looking for;

to the point, very exact, and immediate,

you are the men.

Thanks Terry & Mike.

Glen

I still have about 20 of those dashes, and now know what they are for.

That should be a 1970 - like this one:

1970C12005.jpg

The stripe(s) on the hood was either added later, or the hood is a 1972 part.

The ID tag should be under the dash:

Hi Glen, If you require it, I can supply a photo of a '72' Raider 12 Dash .

Model nbr 1-0311 . Part nbr of the dash is 101882. and it is also quoted for models 1-0330, 1-0301 and 1-0320.

These are made of smooth shiny nylon type plastic and boy do they shrink and warp, so I have suspicions that the bulk of enquiries may be for these models.

Post 73 dashes seem to be of a different and more stable material.

Boy are we lucky to have guys like you making parts and decals for people here. :ychain:

Geri,

Will the dashes you supply be smooth faced like the one you show here, or will they have the original "textured" face?

The early ones don't have texture like the newer ones.
