As far as a deal, if you maintain it well and keep it a long time you will make out fine. Look into what others have done to keep their Onans problem free.

Thanks, I'm already thinking about venting the belt guard for better air flow. Do you think adding an air scoop on the vent is overkill?

Great, sounds like you are on the right track. The additional vents are what I was thinking of when I responded. I remembered reading something about this here but wasn't sure exactly what the recommendation was. I don't know much about the air scoop but I'm all about overkill if the price is reasonable. Spending some time doing some research now might save you from expensive problems, headaches and saying coulda, shoulda, woulda in the future.
