dandan111 31 #4 Posted December 20, 2010 I quess I didnt see what you guys were doing with the chains on the fronts but now I get it. Looks like that will do the trick and not add to the rough ride much! I may try that sometime. :ychain:

Woodsman 3 #7 Posted December 21, 2010 I put these chains on tonight just before blowing a few inches of fresh snow. It was like night and day! The tires hold much better and you can keep on chugging. I used #40 chain. By the way, the snow was light and fluffy and perfect for blowing!
perry 82 #8 Posted December 21, 2010 looks great . i think #40 is what i used also.
Kelly 1,028 #9 Posted December 21, 2010 I need to buy some master links and get my chain on the blower tractor even with 25lb weights on the front wheels it still does not turn well.
Don1977 604 #10 Posted December 21, 2010 You don't need master links. Get a small punch open you vice enough for the pin and drive it out, but leave it in the other side. Turn it over place other end in link and drive it back through. We would get all the short pieces of chain from the mill and put them back together when we had minibikes. They used a lot better chain then we could aford to buy.
VinsRJ 721 #11 Posted December 21, 2010 Jeff, looks like a great idea....... hopefully its one we will not need to use here in CT. I'm not a snow kind of guy :ychain:
wheelhorsec85 5 #12 Posted December 21, 2010 Jeff, looks like a great idea....... hopefully its one we will not need to use here in CT. I'm not a snow kind of guy awwwww come on vince . its good to go out and plow once or at least twice . then i dont want to anymore after that :D
Ken B 3,116 #13 Posted December 21, 2010 I'm not much of a snow guy anymore myself. After spending many a night in a cold Trojan loader pushing snow with a 20ft. blade, I'm kinda tired of all that! BUT.....if its gonna snow I like it to be at least a ft. deep, on the weekend would be nice as well. The chain idea looks to be a good one, I can't wait to see an in action video. can whlvr 991 #15 Posted December 25, 2010 this method works well,i learned this trick here on red square e few winters ago,o agree #40 works good,i used lighter chain and it grips really good but will roll and twist and does break after some pushung,i run one of my tractors with fronts all year ,work good in the mud too
MyOtherCarisaWheel Horse 10 #16 Posted December 25, 2010 I did the same thing with #40 chain. I also added a rubber squeegee to the bottom of my plow edge. Both were tips I got from this site and both are working out very well. Now I can really when I go out to plow.
wheelhorsec85 5 #17 Posted December 27, 2010 OK guy out first time plowing , and the chains work excellent . . wish i had a video , but the wife wont go out to do a video for me . to cold for her . . o well , this is the best method for tractors without a left and right brake pedal :D
