Shuboxlover 474 #1 Posted December 13, 2010 Went on a short run today. It's a C-165, with a 42" RD deck, and a 48" plow The guy said he has had it for over 2 years and has never had it running, didn't know if it would or not. I turned the flywheel and it seemed like it had compression, so I don't think the rod is broke...gonna tinker with it over the next few days and see if I can get her running. It's really pretty clean, someone swapped out the rear fender, but other than that, it is a very straight tractor. What year do you guys think it is???? Sparky-(Admin) 19,580 #3 Posted December 13, 2010 Very nice specimen you have there! Whats the model # on the tag under the dash. The Black Hoods had metal stamped tags at first but I thing the tags changed to stickers, which is what mine has and is unreadable. Makes me think mines an 84. Mike...... Shuboxlover 474 #4 Posted December 13, 2010 Whats the model # on the tag under the dash. AHHHH.....It's clear up under there, I looked under there, but not well enough 11-16K801 1984 :ychain:
Sparky-(Admin) 19,580 #5 Posted December 13, 2010 Is it a decal or a stamped metal tag? Mike............
Shuboxlover 474 #6 Posted December 13, 2010 It's a decal.....and VERY faded. The ones on the deck and the plow have no numbers on them :ychain:
Kelly 1,028 #7 Posted December 13, 2010 Well I believe the 84's are the only year the black hoods came with that style metal fender factory, the other years they had the plastic fenders.
whfan74 2,015 #8 Posted December 13, 2010 Looks like you hauled home a very nice one Tyson! I hope it doesn't take too much to get her running! :ychain:
145Automatic 7 #9 Posted December 15, 2010 Nice find. Looks like a very complete black hood. Let us know when you get that old shaker running. :ychain:
6wheeler 586 #10 Posted December 15, 2010 Nice tractor, You'll like it. Looks just like mine. Throw some wax on her. Mine wouldn't run when I got it also. It was just a broken wire (easy fix). And NO, I didn't feel guilty. 5 minutes and we were mowin . You might want to put greasable wheels on the deck though. I have a 10" plow for mine as well and it doesn't run out of power. But, the front end gets awful light . My wife still thinks I bought it to resell... Silly Girl. Have Fun Pat
Ken B 3,116 #11 Posted December 15, 2010 Nice Black hood. I like them as well. I really like them when the engine bay is stuffed full with a 2 cylinder.
