harleyjj 2 #1 Posted October 20, 2010 I am going to look at a c 111 today and need some advice. the owner states it lost a drive belt last spring and has been sitting since but starts and runs ok. Is it common for one to spit out a drive belt? could this be just because of an old belt or something more serious? how can i tell if the trans is any good? how do i replace the drive belt? what oil does the engine take and how much? what oil does the 8 speed trans take and how much? thanks for your help! MaineDad 85 #2 Posted October 20, 2010 HarleyJJ, Belts can get worn and do need replacement... The 8 speed tranny is very tough and uses gear oil... Make sure you can shift in all gears and see if it will go in and out of low range. Check to see if the rubber shifter boot cover is in good condition. If it is not, there is probably water in the transmission. Not a huge deal. Drive belt is easy to replace. If you get the tractor, we can step you through it... Oil use 30W or 10w-30 in winter Let us know
