What a year it has been!!!

Howdo Guy's, hope your all keeping well out there in WH land :)

Well, what a year it has been with plenty of up's and down's to keep us happy/sad/very angry/pulling hair out/etc... But there has been a few good times.. lol.

To try and make some sort of sense out of this I'd better start at the beginning of the year.

For those that can remember me (Sorry it has been a while) cast your minds back to the beginning of the year when Stig's Shack looked like this and life was all happy..

100_1040.jpg

Then life started to get interesting as we had decided to move house to another rented place..

So the reasonably new extension to the Shack...

100_4531.jpg

Came down for moving..

P2200242.jpg

P2200243.jpg

P2200244.jpg

Moving day came and went and was uneventful apart from extreme tiredness, having someone crash into the back of our, and us buying a sofa and armchairs off ebay that we found were too big to get through any of the doors in the new house!!

But "What about a new place to store and work on WH's"? I hear you ask..

HHmm..

The new Workshack looked something like this...

17cd6c95.jpg

But through a lot of hard work (A VERY BIG THANK YOU to Garry, Pete and Rob), the new Workshack started to take shape.

IMG_0157.jpg

IMG_0225.jpg

With the new Workshack water tight, the time had come to hire a truck and collect everything left at the old place.

IMG_0233.jpg

Not too much to move :wh:

IMG_0230.jpg

IMG_0231.jpg

Moving out..

IMG_0232.jpg

And moving in to the New Shack..

IMG_0235.jpg

The next day, this horror story awaited me :USA:

Gradually over the next couple of months space started to appear.

P4020450.jpg

Benches started to go up..

P4030458.jpg

And the Shack even got a couple of coats of brown stuff.

IMG_0425.jpg

With lots of small jobs left to do in the Shack, some time was found to have a bit of fun.

Even though the new place was very nice.. Here it is..

CIMG3074.jpg

It did have a few problems.. One of those being a shared garden.. which meant no Wh grass cutting for me :)

But after a chat with the local farmer (Thanks Mr B ) we had his permission to drive around his fields when ever we wanted :USA:

P4260782.jpg

CIMG3036.jpg

It had been a while since Pete last hugged a tree!!

CIMG3046.jpg

P4260831.jpg

Heading back to the Shack.

P4260855.jpg

Flying the Flag.

P8030037.jpg

This was Rob's first trip out on the Wh's after his quadruple heart bypass op.

Your be please to know all went well and Rob is fitter than ever..

IMG_0397.jpg

And then just as life was settling down and the Shack was only a couple of weeks away from being finished and fully operational.....

My Wife and I were hit with a bombshell!!!!

Hi kevin, thanks for that.. It's good to be back..

After four months of a six month (renewable) tenancy, we got told we would have to move out at the end of the six months!!

As you can imagine after just having moved once this was er... not the best of news ever..

So all work on the Shack stopped and the search for a new place to rent started..

There's nothing like moving house to cause stress :)

To cut a long and very stressful story much shorter, after going after 48 different places and being turned down/out bid a hell of a lot we eventually found a place almost out in the middle in Hawkhurst, kent...

This move hasn't been an easy one with quite a battle happening to get the Landlord to say yes to me building a Workshack...

Speaking of Workshack's, having just sunk over

Nice to hear from you again. Sorry about those shed rebuilds, that does really stink!

Looks like you have got some really good freinds there. Count those blessings on the good side for you.

That's better some shepherds pie toasted sandwiches fill thee hole very nicely :)

Back to the plot.... What there is of one :wh:

We now have a bit of a smaller garden than what we have been used to, but more than enough space to build the shack..

The chosen spot...

P8230088.jpg

The "usual suspects" of course have been involved building the worlds biggest 3D jigsaw puzzle, once again a Big Thank you to Pete, Rob.

P8310440.jpg

And Garry

P9020935.jpg

For all your help, I couldn't of done it without you :)

P9162093.jpg

The inside is getting sorted slowly with lots of repainting going on.

P9142081.jpg

P9142083.jpg

I will take some more photo's once the inside is a bit tidier as it looks like a bomb site at the mo.. But it is getting sorted...

The main job left to do is get the electrics wired up.. That's the easy bit..

The hard part is actually getting power out to the shack.. For some reason our landlord won't let my Shack be wired into the house or small shed (already in the garden) which has had power ran from the house!!!

At the moment I'm running an extension lead from the shed to the Shack, which is good enough to run most things, but not up to the job of running my big compressor, arc welder or plasma cutter!!

This is a bit of a pain as I tend to use them all a lot...

Sigh!!

It will get sorted :USA:

Ian

Good to hear from you, looks as though you have been very busy. With all the practice you and the boys have gotten lately you guys could go into business building work shacks. Cant wait for you to get the shack done so your creative mind can get back to doing the fun stuff as we love to hear about them.

P.J.

Good morning Guy's from a nice sunny Kent, which makes a change from the days of rain we have been having..

The sun is out, all is right with the world :omg:

WoW, so many comments, cheers Guy's..

HHmm.. let's see if I can remember how to use this quote thingy!!

Glad to have you back Ian, it's been a while.

I've always enjoyed reading your posts.

Hi John, it's great to be back.

Yes it's been quite a while, it's been such a mad crazy year that has just kept us so busy!

Tiredness has been a big problem, after two house moves this year I feel like I have aged 15 years... No doubt my Wife says I look it as well :wh:

Glad you enjoy my posts.

Nice to hear from you again. Sorry about those shed rebuilds, that does really stink!

Looks like you have got some really good freinds there. Count those blessings on the good side for you.

Lol, yes the shed thing has been a bit of a pain, at least it went back up quite quickly.

All the time spent drawing up plans and labeling bits of wood really paid off.

I can't agree more about Rob, Pete and Garry, they are the best friends anyone could wish to have..

Thanks again chaps for all your help and hard work over the past year..

A shed warming party will be happening as soon as it's tidy and space can be found :USA:

Glad to have you back Ian!!! I'll go out on a limb and say your the most interesting/entertaining guy on the forum and I'd like to meet you someday.

Aw Shucks Tony.. :omg:

It would be great to meet you (and all you other fine chaps) one day..

You never know what the future holds..

Good to hear from you, looks as though you have been very busy. With all the practice you and the boys have gotten lately you guys could go into business building work shacks. Cant wait for you to get the shack done so your creative mind can get back to doing the fun stuff as we love to hear about them.

Hi PJ... Busy... Oh yes..lol

No more building Workshacks... Please!!!

The trouble is I don't actually like doing wood work of and shape or form..

I'm more of a metal kinda Guy :)

The Workshack isn't that far off being done, then I've got a log store to build..

But after that the creative minds will be back to building big beasts on the bench :)

Ian! Great to hear from you and your "crew". Its been awhile and I was worried you had drifted over to the dark side (John Deere biggrin.gif ).

Lookin forward to seeing and hearing about your next WH project.

Howdo Mike, How's tricks?

So you thought we might of drifted off to "The green Side" eh..

Not quite.. More like "drifting in between" :)

Michael

Hi Michael, yes were quite happy to of found somewhere to live as well.. lol

The contract here is is for a year (renewable) but I don't think the new landlords will be in any hurry to "move us on", as our rent helps to pay for their "retired, always on the yacht" life style!!

Your always welcome to drop in any time you are this way.

I will PM you this evening with our new address.

More to come, I need a smoke.

Hiya Jason, the housing troubles were kinda "self inflicted".. Or we never should of moved in the first place!!! Sigh!!

What is it they say about hindsight? lol.

The lights in the Shack are rigged up, still a bit more on the electrics side of things to get done..

As Garry would say......... "Not long Now" :)

Great to see you back, Ian. whtractor/thumbsup.gif Glad to see you're all finally settled in your new place.

Hey Ray, it's good to be back :)

We are quite settled in now thank you, though still a few boxes in the house to unpack.. but what's the rush :)

Ian's back....and now all is right with the whtractor/whlogo.gif world!

Stop it Duff, your make me blush. Lol.

What everyone else said, and I'm glad you and yours are OK. It has been a long time...glad you are back. Great pictures.

Thank you Steve :wh:

More picture to come later, I need to be out doing things in this beautiful sun.

Good morning Chap's, sorry I'm back a bit "later than advertised", so tired last night I was almost falling asleep eating my dinner!!

A busy day was had yesterday tidying and moving things about in the shed (not the Shack), so I could at long last get everything under cover that should be..

So now my home made harrow :) , car ramps, and lot's of metal are now nice and dry in the shed..

HHmm.. Almost dry.. I noticed yesterday that the shed roof had been leaking!!

Another job to go on the list :)

Anyone care for a few more photo's?

Thought not :)

Stepping back in time slightly here is Garry having a relaxing moment after winning the "Who can roll the parcel tape across the floor in the most artistic manner and be pleasing to the eye" championships!!

IMG_0541.jpg

The contest may well of been the result of drinking too many "awakening" shots :)

IMG_0496.jpg

Stepping back even further in time back to the old place, this old Ferguson tractor was being used to load round bales onto a trailer.

I remember them being "new" when I was a kid... Looks like were both not aging well :)

IMG_0489.jpg

Were heading the right way in the space time continuum now..

My first bit of Wh grass cutting in almost a year!!

It felt sooo good :USA:

IMG_0561.jpg

Back to present day now.. Well almost.. A couple of days away is close enough to present time for me : )

A "moody" shot of the 312-8 looking out the doors..

DSCF0159.jpg

The 312-8 looking out the door in new fangled colour..

PA042303.jpg

Stepping inside the Raider 10 looks quite snug and cosy tucked away at the back under the wheel rack..

PA042307.jpg

What will be the main work bench and parts storage.

PA042304.jpg

The new home for my old faithful and quite friendly Southbend Lathe.

PA042305.jpg

Tools... Boxes.... But most importantly... The kettle :omg:

PA042306.jpg

And finally the not lost or forgotten Project 6X6 aka The Stig Special..

One day this six wheeled beast will roll under it's own power... Rampage through Kent closely followed by the whole of the UK..... Take over the world.... Rule the whole of the known (and unknown) universe......

Well, at the very least trundle around the fields :omg:

PA042308.jpg

Roll on the time when I can lay the wood saw to rest for good, pick up the grinder, start looking for the hack saw, and get on with building this project :wh:
