stevasaurus 23,107 #2 Posted September 7, 2010 WOW...that is nice Denny. Being a carpenter on the side, it is very nice to see something being built that looks like code and spec and things done right. Keep the pictures coming please. :wh:
dclarke 4,076 #3 Posted September 7, 2010 Steve, the guy that's building it is really good, i've had him do other things for me in the past.

Butch 194 #8 Posted September 7, 2010 Now that's nice and roomy for the Horses! I can't tell by the pic but the bottom is protected from rain and general moisture isn't it?
dclarke 4,076 #9 Posted September 8, 2010 Now that's nice and roomy for the Horses! I can't tell by the pic but the bottom is protected from rain and general moisture isn't it? Hi Butch, my builder poured a rat wall a few inches high then used treated lumber on top of that when he put the walls up. i had them place plastic on top of the fill sand then poured the concrete on top of that. i had that done when i replaced the floor of my garage and that floor never sweats in the spring. i'm hoping for the same result here. Suburban 550 28 #16 Posted September 8, 2010 Super nice toy shed, Denny. I know about the wife thing, they try to dictate of how many tractors you should have, but in time they get over it. Keep us updated on the progress. :)
Coadster32 793 #17 Posted September 8, 2010 Nice! I wouldn't call that small. I like the plastic idea before the poured concrete floor. You can fill it up quicker with tractors if the price is right. (always tell her that). :)
JimD 3,345 #18 Posted September 8, 2010 Nice Horse barn you got there. Keep the pics coming. Especially when it's occupied! :)

horsefeathers 15 #20 Posted September 9, 2010 Dclarke,20'x24'! Thats a good start but where are you goinna' work? Guess you can add on later Barn builders rule of thumb, figure how much room you need! Double that! and save room to add on! I have a 35'x40' garage,16'x20' garage,16'x30' shed roof,10'x10' shanty! And I still have tractors sittin' out side! Whoddathunkit? HORSEFEATHERS!

dclarke 4,076 #23 Posted September 9, 2010 today's update. the trusses showed up yesterday afternoon, my builder got them up before leaving for a late afternoon doctor appointment. he had a good day today, the roof is on and the ends are done. siding, walk-in door and a window tomorrow if it's not raining. my nephew installs garage doors so he will do this one when it's ready. hopefully another update tomorrow.
