whfan74 2,015 #1 Posted September 7, 2010 Picked this up today. Not quite sure of the year as this is the first one I have really laid my eyes upon. (Haven't been around the hobby long enough to have seen a HUGE variety) It has the most impressive Pond stamped in to the transmission case. I couldn't find a tag or any other stamping. The cast iron briggs has the model worn off of it. The original silver towns are solid, no cracks that I could see and of course hold air just fine. The cultivator is frozen up right now and the spoons need to be flipped. After tinkering with it for a little while I was able to get spark but it has yet to fire. Will be checking in to it further. Needless to say I was happy to haul it home. Here it is.............

whfan74 2,015 #9 Posted September 7, 2010 Thanks so much you guys for the compliments and information! To be honest with you I was suprised when it was still there. Looking forward to getting her running and see what it will do.
Eriks Red horse herd 43 #10 Posted September 7, 2010 DUH! Sould have read your first entry better! You said it had a briggs motor - then it would be a PT-20 (Briggs model 6, 2hp) if it has 6-12 tires on it . If not then if it has 6-16 tires and (Briggs model 8 , 2.5hp) than its a PT-25. The PT-30 had a Clinton 1100 and the PT-35 had a Kohler K90. Still either a 1954-56 the only years they made them with that clutching system. Hope this gets you close to the model you have. whfan74 2,015 #11 Posted September 7, 2010 Erik, Thank you so much for the info. It does have the 6-12 tires on it. I was searching around for other attachments that he may have had hidden in the weeds to go with it but everything else he had was for a Simplicity (his tractor of choice) I am excited to haul home what I did. Hopefully now we can get it running before the meet and greet. Thanks again!

whfan74 2,015 #15 Posted September 8, 2010 Thanks guys! Dad called last night and said he took the head off and it looks like we need a valve job done on her. Does anyone know where you can get a head gasket for the old 2 h.p. Briggs? Erik???? Will keep you posted on what is going on with it!
Roger from southern Iowa 1 #16 Posted September 8, 2010 Your local Briggs dealer should be able to fix you up. If you have to get a head gasket for a model 8, different # but will work fine. If that doesn't work let me know, I may have one.
whfan74 2,015 #17 Posted September 8, 2010 Thanks Roger........we will see what we can come up with.
stevasaurus 22,260 #18 Posted September 8, 2010 Well Scott...good news and bad news. I just picked up a cycle bar and a dozer blade for a walk behind from JoeBob in Minn. and I will be bringing them to the M&G. The bad news is they are for Marshall, but I don't think he would mind if you wanted to try them for a fit. Indy has a George that we think they will fit. :)
whfan74 2,015 #19 Posted September 8, 2010 :) Hmmmmm.....what if they accidently fell out of the back of your truck? Maybe some day Marshall won't need them anymore and they will make it back up north! :USA:
