Gear shift locked

Transmission is locked up on my model 753 and the tractor won't move. Can anyone help with an idea and what's it going to take to fix the problem. And. where can I located a manuel?.

I'm not sure which tranny is in the 753, I believe it is the 5025.

I would guess that the shift forks are out of alignment.

You can pull the shifter out of the trans and look inside the hole to see them. The forks should be aligned in the center for neutral. You can move them with a flat head screwdriver.

I echo Wallfish's idea. That's the first and easiest thing to do. When the shifter is out, use a screw driver to move the shift forks around. You're in neutral when they form a box (rectangle). It is perfectly ok to remove the shifter lever. Only a set screw holds it in. Good luck.

Your shifter will come out by loosening or removing the set screw/dog that holds it in place.

Then look down into the hole and neutral should look like this.

we should pin (sticky?) this. it seems to come up at least once a month... i just get into a habit of whenever a tractor comes home check the shifter, if it feels loose, pull it, align the forks, put in an appropriate set screw, turn till tight, back off a touch then tighten the jam nut.
