WH854 44 #1 Posted July 27, 2010 I spent the better part of three hours installing axle seals on my C-165 AUTO today P/N 6449. 1 jacked up tractor took wheels off. 2 Loosend nut and bolt that keeps the hub tight 3 Slid hub off pretty easy I had put Never sez on before. 4 Cleaned axle off with a rag.Took key out of slot 5 Took a drill and drilled a small hole in the mettle part of seal. 6 Took a tool I have that is called a cotter key puller It has a sharp point on it with a twisted curve, and started picking at the seal more diging more finally it poped right out. 7 Cleaned axle off again, cleaned out where the seal goes. 8 Put a little oil on the new seal slide seal up agains't the housing. 9 Then dabbed a little never sez on axle 10 Took hub put it on the axle spun the hub around to get the never sez all over the axle. 11 Slide hub against the seal whacked it with a brass hammer to set the seal. 12 Then I gave the hub a couple of hard whacks bingo the seals are installed 13 Then i slide hub of axle put woodruff key in put hub back on,tightened up bolt and nut,put wheels back on, i am done Take your time and it will work for you too.
