frankiefiredog 1 #26 Posted July 10, 2010 I did not change the actual switch. The WH manual I have for the tractor actually shows the wiring diagram for a kohler, not a tecumseh. I followed that diagram. Maybe I assumed that the switch would function with either engine? All of the wires have a home and everything else seems to be working. The points are under the flywheel yes? I'll give those a look. Thanks! I'm not worried yet. Hearing that bad boy turn over made me smile. Couldn't have gotten that far without you guys. rickv1957 73 #27 Posted July 10, 2010 You will have to change switch to get power to coil as the tecumseh switch is for a mag ignition,Rick
frankiefiredog 1 #28 Posted July 10, 2010 Any idea where I might find one of those Rick? Or can I just make one up by adding another switch? Is it a three position? Momentary? The grass needs cut! I can order a switch but I need a more rapid, temporary solution What am I switching to the coil? The + battery? Thanks again. Dave Lagrange, Ohio
rickv1957 73 #29 Posted July 10, 2010 That is a very common switch that you could get at auto parts, remove the wire from your coil+ side, run a jumper wire from battery+ to coil, should fire right up,Rick
frankiefiredog 1 #30 Posted July 10, 2010 OK, So wire from Coil + to switch then wire out of switch to battery +? This is a simple 12v ON/OFF switch? If so, I have some of those. Thanks Rick. Dave Lagrange, Ohio

frankiefiredog 1 #32 Posted July 10, 2010 It LIVES!!!! WOOOHOOOOO!!! Boy does it sound good! Thanks Rick! A switch did the trick! Now to figure out the cable routing... I have the choke cable where I want it, but the throttle cable leaves much to be desired. Any one have any good pictures of one of these motors and the cable routing? The way it's pictured in the manual, I don't have an attachment point. Thanks again guys!!! You rock! Dave Lagrange, Ohio

frankiefiredog 1 #37 Posted July 12, 2010 New pictures! Here's a few pics of the new-to-me Kohler installed in my C-120. This tractor is a worker, so it's not pretty. I hope to restore her one of these days. This is a family tractor. I want to keep it going strong for years. Thanks to all of you for your help. Rick, Mike, Scott and Scott's dad Dave, and all of the other folks who chimed in and helped out! Here she is: I love it! There is A LOT more power than I had before. That motor sounds like a million bucks and doesn't smoke like the Tec did I cut my 2 acres yesterday and had no issues at all. Just tore through that grass! Awesome awesome awesome! Thanks again! (Video of the grass cutting is going to take a day or so longer, but my wife said she took some footage)

frankiefiredog 1 #39 Posted July 12, 2010 Tractor looks great!!,glad to help!,your muffler can be fit under hood easily if you wanted Rick Thanks Rick. Notice that C-clamp just above the muffler? Notice something missing? I was trying to loosen that up to turn it back under the hood when the bolt snapped. Funny thing is, it's so rusted, that I don't even need that bolt! It stayed on all day yesterday! So where am I going to find a "Nelson" Muffler to replace that one? I love the sound of that motor with that muffler on it. Really throaty, but not too loud. Ok Ok Ok I'm done for a while! Next project, refinishing the mid-mount grader blade. Going to try my hand with a spray gun and some IH Red. LOOK OUT!
