Congrats. I have a couple more years before I retire. I hope that Social Security is still around by then. I'm not counting on it.

I always worked for myself. so there will be no retirement or pension when I finally call it quits other than what we have put away over the years.

Go out and do all the things you have wanted to do. Hope your health stays good so that you can enjoy retirement to the fullest.

Bob

I am married. We will be doing a lot of football games(go OU). I bought me a new bass boat and will spend a lot of time on the water. I do have a honey due list in place. She said she did not know what she was going to do with me around the house. I told her to look out the window and see the new truck and boat out there. I won't be around the house all day long. I will be looking for more WH's to work on. It will not be a wasted retirement.

For all of those that are getting ready to retire I would wish you guys all the best and thanks for all of the thoughts from you guys. This is a first class forum.

Way to go Don. I have been retired for a year and a half now.

The only bad thing about retirement is...you never get a day off.

Retirement is great. No doubt about that. The winters can be long at times but projects help make it through those months. It is very easy to become lazy. Keeping track of what day of the week it is can be challenging. Time goes by extremely fast. The one thing I hate about retirement is I no longer have an excuse to get out of going somewhere I hate to go! I worked all hours of the day and all days of the week my entire life and saying I had to work bailed me out of a lot of things. I'd even swap shifts or days off to make sure I was working that day if it got me out of something. Now I get pulled along by my ear to go somewhere I don't wanna go. :D

Enjoy your retirement. If ya get bored some days don't worry about it. That's part of it. You can do charity work if you get bored. There is plenty of that out there. After I get a couple projects done my wife and I are gonna get involved with charity work. No more rushing to get something done in one weekend. If ya can't finish something today there is always tomorrow or the next day.

Enjoy it and take it easy!

Congrats Don,

Managing your retirement may be one of the most difficult challenges you have

ever faced. You've got to think how you can satisfy "the lady" and at the same

time satisfy your personal pursuits--not a simple balancing act. But your well-

being in the long run will require that you walk that tight rope. I have been

retired for 18 years and have been blessed with a terrific partner. She allows

my hobby activities, but I do not lose sight of the lady that makes my day, week,

and mature years. Work on that and count your blessings. You likely are there

already.

Thanks guys for the input. I will take it in and do the best I can. Have a great time for a while and make sure that the better half is also involved. We do a lot of things together and this should make it better. Have a great day

Don

Welcome aboard, Don....now I'm here to tell ya my alum boat has DRY rot!!....so you might as well sell that bass boat right now because you will not have time to use it!!

Now what Wheel Horse did you have in mind?...you saw all of them on that COLD winter day..I'm saving the RJ just for you  ...unless ole550 gets em first!

You will enjoy retirement...but a word of caution...don't go to the bank or grocery store on Fridays..cause all "working people" will be there....and don't go to lunch between 11 and 1...cause all the "working people" will be there....and don't forget to sleep in on Monday mornings..in honor of the "working people" that have to get up go to work to make sure your SS check does not BOUNCE!....keep in touch!
