36 inch mower spindle replacement

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

I just received some new spindle bearings for my backup B-80 36 inch mower deck.

I replaced two on the deck I am now using but that was two years ago.

TURF TRACTOR SPINDLE BEARINGS 230-078 for TORO 103119 is what I have.

I have fogotten which way the long side of the bearing goes - up for the pulley on top on down for the spindle cup and mower blade? I think the bearing is about an 1/8 to 1/4 inch longer on one end.

These are stens bearings and have a ring/grove on one of the Double D ends of the bearing.

I sure would appreacaite some guidance on which way is up on these!

I probably am too tired to finish two of them tonight anywaY!

Thank you Red Square members!

:D

The short end goes up, Lane.

When the spindle unit is assembled, the shaft ends protrude almost equally - due to the lip at the bottom of the housing. (where the bearing unit seats)
