Awoke another toy from its winter nap

Hello All and Happy Memorial Day,

I decided to get my 1978 Bayliner Saratoga 2550 ready to put in the water and started by getting the motor running... Its a 300 Hp 350 Chevy that I built about 8 years ago and it always puts a smile on my face to hear it running on the hose in the yard. The Bayliner is a 26' Flybridge Sport Fisherman and if I let the 350 go to 5000 rpm it will push the boat to 32 mph which is pretty respectable for a boat in this size/weight class..... I can't use it as much as I used to because of the gas. It burns around 9 gallons an hour if I go gingerly and if I am in a hurry I can burn 15 gallons an hour or A GALLON EVERY 4 MINUTES.... :D But anybody that knows Quadrajets Knows that they really can drink gas when the secondaries pop open :USA:

Nice, Tony!

I've got it's little brother, an '04 Bayliner 185 bowrider with the stock Chevy 4.3 liter V-6. At WOT I can just top 50mph. Mine is thirsty in the fuel department, but not quite as thirsty as yours! I don't ski or wakeboard, but I can tour from point "A" to point "B" in pretty short order! :USA:

Cheers!

Duff :D

Thanks for the comments everybody...

Kelly---I was running my canoe with --ME-- power before I woke this one up. But I could only get short bursts of 3 mph.... so I gave up and went for more power. :USA:

Rick---Twin 496 Mags????? Why are you not down in the gulf scooping up as much free oil as you can and opening up you own refinery? I wouldn;t even want to think about how much fuel that combo could possibly drink @ 4800.... :D

Tony,

I have a few of those things that float too.. I just woke up the 290 searay with twin 4.3's with 4 barrel carbs which suck down the gas too. I got it floating last Friday. It is always nice to hear them motors run for the first time after a long winters sleep (not to mention you want to make sure you winterized them right). I have the mis fortune of having to repower both when I bought the boat 3 years ago which was not fun. I did the work myself at my friend's marina. I also have a small bass boat and a crawdad that we use to fish the local ponds. Not a lot of time recently to use them or money to keep gas in there. My searay took $310 in fuel last week :D
