New Member With Old WH Coming Home

Wow! I'm glad I found this place!

I am bringing home my grandfather's C120 with hydro this week. He bought it new, sometime in the 70's, and used it for many years, mowing, hauling, etc...I believe the Kohler 12 was rebuilt in the 90's.

I had it for awhile until the belt broke somewhere under the frame. I had replaced the big belt once, and had the 3-blade rear-discharge mowing deck's blades sharpened before the belt broke and the muffler blew out. I gave it to my father in law, and he never fixed it. He says it needs points and the belt.

It ain't pretty, but it mowed great when I had it. It still has the garden tires on it to leave a nice footprint...

I was thinking of buying a used Deere, or a big-box brand, until I thought about the old Horse.

Now I know, that, aside from shiny paint and high prices, that the Wheel Horse is built better than any big-box bower.

I'll need help from time to time, so I'll be asking questions. :omg:

:omg: Good choice not to buy a big box throw away. I was in Lowes last night and a yound couple was buying a $1000 junk. I wanted to tell them don't do it but had to refrain. The C120 is a good solid machine. Put some work and a few bucks in it now and you will have it for years of good service.

Thanks for the welcome!

As far as "thinking with my wallet", that is correct, as is the nostalgia "thing" I have for this old tractor.

You'll find that on the financial side, that I am a loyal follower of Dave Ramsey, and I'm following his steps to freedom. I'm a frugal person.

Firemart, :D You made a great choice.

An investment of time and a little cash will yield you many years of service.

Oh yeah, I took Dave,s class a few years ago. Very wise man! :omg:

Thanks, Everyone should heed Dave's advice, especially younger folks...

I have already posted a question thread in Wheel Horse Tractors on what I'm gonna need to get going.

Thank you. I'm overwhelmed right now with this tractor. I didn't expect it to come home like this. Tires gone, rusted out, parts missing....

:D !

We've seen 'em brought back in far worse shape than that, so take a deep breath, smile, and have at 'er! The end result will be well worth it.
