Found a D250 today

Recommended Posts

I went to look at a boat lift today and got talking to the seller about

Wheel Horse tractors. He told me that he has a D250 in the garage that he

has been slowly restoring. He is getting up in years and does not want to

keep working on it any more and wants to sell it. He does not know what a fair

price for one would be and I don't either. It comes with a 60 inch mower deck.

It has little to no rust on it and the deck and hood have been repainted. There

is a fiberglass fender assembly that has been removed to have cracks repaired

and it needs the carb rebuilt. It is a very nice looking tractor. It is a little large

for me but if I can get a price out of him I can pass the information on to anyone

interested. So, what I need to know is what to tell him a D250 is worth in average condition.

I've seen 2 here in MI. on CL not sure if they sold or not but they were asking $1500 for one with a deck and tiller, the other they wanted $2500 with deck tiller and a loader, not sure if that helps

Thanks for the replys. I had thought of telling him it was probably worth

around $1000 dollars (to me) in the condition it was in with just a mower deck.

I will be going back to see him in a week or so to return some steel saw

horses that I borrowed. I will try to discuss price then.

I will go back with my camera and take some pictures in a few days. I was really impressed with how nice the wood grain dash looked and how clean the controls were. I will have him start it for me too. He just put a new battery in it. I don't know what carb problem it has but the owner says he is not too good at working on them.

I finally got back to get some pictures of the D250 today. It is in a small

garage so I could not get back too far. It is still for sale. Still no set price

yet but after talking to the owner I think he would like to get 2,300 to

2,500 dollars for it. I am guessing this based on the fact that he spent

1,800 dollars for it when he bought it and spent around 600 dollars or

more on parts (200 dollar new starter for example). Too much money

for me.
