To buy a new trailer! I really want too make the Big Show this yr. and I wouldn't mind bringing a tractor or two to ride around on while there. I'm also hoping to hit some of the shows in CT this yr. as well. Not to mention, always being ready when that special deal comes along that you need to act extra fast on! :D

I went for a 5x8 from TSC. I'm going to weld on a little extra bracing and I think I'll put a floor on it as well. I sprung for a trailer with a bigger tire and lift gate.

Big thanks to Stevebo for letting me use his trailer on numerous occasions. :omg:

Looks good Ken. I would definitely put a floor in it as you dont want all the road grime getting on the tractors that gets kicked up thru the floor.

Ken,

Good to see you bought it. Now you can haul at least two on that one !! You can also move the loader tractor on it. The worst thing I have found on mine is the paint. After just one trip on the salty winter roads the paint chips. Looks nice !!

This is actually at least the fifth trailer I have owned, the 4x8's and 5x8's have always been able to get the job done for me. So long as I can fit a few RJ's on it I'lll be happy. :omg:

Yes Steve the paint is a little thin. When the time comes I'll buy a quart of Rustoleum, throw a little hardener in it and spray it with the old siphon feed spray gun, a few good coats. I might even scuff it with a scotch-brite pad and do it now.

Well, I started out with a 5x8 with the mesh floor. With a big C-Series on it and a 48" deck, it slowly started to become a pain as much hauling as I did. Then I got a 6x12 tilt and that thing was even worse, especially trying to load in the winter. I then went to a 16' utility and that was the best trailer I have ever had! I then got a 14' utility and wouldn't you know it, I need that 2 extra feet when hauling the FEL and another tractor!!! :omg:

I also have a 7x14 enclosed and yes, hauling to the show this year is gonna be tight going out! I wish I got at least a 18' one! My next one is going to be a 20' or more gooseneck!!!! :D

I can see where you need a big trailer for sure, it looks as though you have some big girls in your stable. My dream trailer would probably be a 12 fter.

I have the same one. I went out and bought some pressure treated wood to make a wood deck, much more stable that way and feels a lot more secure.

I'm right behind you Ken...been looking at the TS trailers for awhile now, and they are running a sale on them now. I was thinking the next size up from yours. They seem like nice trailers. :omg:

Nice purchase.

I never realized how handy a trailer was until we added one to the fleet last fall. I've always been content running the tractors up in the back of my pickup but now I am spoiled having a trailer.

5'x8' seems like a really nice size, especially if you have a smaller tow vehicle.

We bought this 82"x12' trailer from a local dealer after it sat on his lot unsold for about 6 years. 15" tires, 3500 lb GVW, no side rails (so you can load from any side), and ramps stowed under the deck.

DSC01893.jpgDSC01894.jpg

The 520Lxi on there makes it look smaller than it is since the tractor is quite long compared to a normal WH. Could probably put 4 or 5 juniors or round hoods on it as long as the weight didn't get too heavy.

It has been extremely handy to have around...even for non-tractor tasks. I think you'll soon feel as spoiled as I do! In fact, I'm considering getting rid of my pickup.

If you can, you might want to look into adding electric brakes. Money VERY WELL spent in safety and peace of mind.

Looks great!

Steve

Nice pick Ken, how do they compare to the ones at lowes, was TSC running a deal?

5x8 is nice, the thing about them is, they fit in the garage, shed, or under the deck easily and can be towed by a lot of vehicles. I almost bought a 12' yesterday, but in talking with my wife, I am keeping mine, because if you live in a development like I do a 12' or bigger can really be looked at as an eye sore and piss off the neighbors.

And if you ever need a bigger one which will be rare, uhaul is like $35 a day for a 6x12 dual axle w/ drop gate.

Ken what size tires are those?

Trailers are cool to have. And everyone else think so to. :D Can I borrow yours this weekend? :omg:

A trailer is very handy to have for sure. It's like a hammer, you don't need it everyday, buit sure is nice to know you got it when ya want it.

The tires are 13's.

I have rented U-Haul trailers before. About 30 bucks a day. Not a bad deal if you only need a trailer every so often. Its very handy though to have a trailer ready and waiting. Sometimes you need to be the early bird to catch that worm! :omg:

thats why I keep the trailer reg'd and under the back porch, and a set of ramps in back of the pickup, in case you need to race. with the jeep and that 5x8 you should be perfect.

I am about to catch a worm...though not a red one
