Gene_S 93 #1 Posted March 28, 2010 Just thought I'd post a picture of my shopping cart work cart. A friend of ours is a manager of a store and they moved to another location and left four old style shopping carts behind. I asked her if I could have them and here is what I made. The cart is just past waist high and it makes it very handy working on things in the garage. Plus there is all kinds of small round steel rod from the basket I removed. Now what to do with the other three? Excuse the huge mess in the picture Thanks for looking.

JimD 3,345 #8 Posted March 29, 2010 Looks like a very handy item Gene. I hope that isn't the one with the wobbly wheel. :omg:
stevasaurus 23,107 #9 Posted March 29, 2010 That is a great idea Gene...maybe put some rubber matting on the bottom and in the little basket so small things don't fall through. A small roll is about $7.00 at lowes...used for lining drawers in tool boxes. :omg:
bmuone 15 #10 Posted March 29, 2010 What to do with the other one....Roger said it.....popcorn. And a couple of cool drink holders and a cooler built right in there!
Butch 194 #11 Posted March 29, 2010 I don't know. Somewhere in there I think there's a Jeff Foxworthy red neck joke! :D
dodge78 94 #12 Posted March 29, 2010 You could put a seat on one, about where that small basket is. But then the cart would be too high.
Coadster32 793 #13 Posted March 29, 2010 Somewhere in there I think there's a Jeff Foxworthy red neck joke! If you're proud to use a shopping cart as a work bench...you might be a red-neck. Pretty darn cool though. Use what you got! :D
stevasaurus 23,107 #14 Posted March 30, 2010 Gene...you are too far north to be a Red Neck...up here we call it Yankee Ingenuity. :omg:
Gene_S 93 #15 Posted March 31, 2010 Thanks for all the comments guys... It is pretty red neck I admit... The other red neck thing is three more of these shopping carts are still in the back of my truck... Wonder what people think of that when they drive by? At least there not Wal-Mart carts! Maybe I could make one of these...
Kelly 1,031 #16 Posted March 31, 2010 A buddy of mine cut the sides off the basket at least part of them and the front and set his mig welder in it, welded hooks on both sides to hang the cables, and his helmet, the lower tray had gloves and a hammer, along one side some of the round bars were welded on to hook welding clamps to, he only had a small argon/C02 tank so it fit in the basket also, very nice set up, and very REDNECK

Gene_S 93 #20 Posted April 7, 2010 I'll tell you what KC9KAS, the four carts I got are probably 20 plus years old and they have really good casters and roll way better then the ones at wally world. Some one needs to go around to those stores and do alignments on them cheap china made carts!
