RJ 58 progress

Recommended Posts

Ken B

I've been puttering around with the RJ 58 just a little since I got it a few weeks ago. I was hoping to find a better hood for it, but I'm impatient. This one had lots of issues, 6 extra holes in it that I welded closed, grinded smooth and filled. Lots of dings, dents creases and the like. The dings around the lettering on the front of the hood have proven to be a real pain in the arse, and that is one of the area's I can't get perfect. its not going to be perfect but its much better than it was. Maybe Sunday I 'll shoot some paint on the hood and take apart the rest of the tractor.

looks like a major improvement. That is all I have left on my Suburban, I am dragging my heels on it because I don't think I can get it perfect. Guess I need to just do it and deal with the outcome. If it turns out as good as your, I'll be happy. :omg:

I would have to agree you are off to a very good start. My RJ58 resto started last May and is still going..... :omg:

Must be some law in southern CT where every tractor has to be restored within 3 to 4 weeks...... There's that other person I know down there who turns them out just as fast....... named...... Stevebo or something? :D

Things are starting to move along now.... Total tear down. Frame massaged and painted. Hood all straight, Front axle is in , the belt guard I just got from Kelly is now restored. The motor is done, the heat shield is done. Rims and tires, done. Rear axle repaired and waiting for paint this weekend along with the hood and a few other small parts. (maybe an all nighter Friday night?) I still got the two'fer goin.... :omg: I know the rims aren't supposed to be black, But I like em eh....
