1961551 2 #1 Posted March 16, 2010 hi, i have a good running k341 engine. the only tractors i have, that i know it will fit on is the c165 and the c81. i want to know if it will fit on a short frame or med frame without modifying the tractor i guess i could have already tried, but its heavy. and someone already knows . jimmy

1961551 2 #3 Posted March 16, 2010 terry, i dont know. just went out and measured the oil pan. is 1-1/2 inches deep. its a k341AS. jimmy
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #4 Posted March 16, 2010 The "A" in "AS" means it has a "special oil pan" which - in Kohler and/or WH terminology means the smaller pan. (but not necessarily the correct pan for use with the iso-mount cradle on a WH tractor) With the proper pan and air cleaner, you can actually put the engine on a short-frame square-hood tractor such as a 1045/1055/1075, but it would have to have a starter/generator and not a gear drive starter. (unless you relocate the battery) The medium frame tractors (B-80 4 speed, B-100 Automatic, etc.) shouldn't be a problem - other than fastening the engine to the frame without the big oil pan. You can't use the iso-cradle because there isn't enough room on the frame. I don't see it working well on a round hood unless you severely alter the hood or remove it all together. Kelly 1,033 #5 Posted March 16, 2010 Just to clear one thing up, that TT said the K341 small pan, will not fit the short frame tractors with out a little more work, I have one on my rat tractor and the flywheel is bigger, even with the ring gear removed, I used the tin work from a 1257 I believe, but the bearing plate is larger than the 10hp engines on the 1055 ect... so I had to shift the engine to the left (from the seat view) to clear the frame and that screwed everything up, but with work it did fit, I don't think you can or should swap the small 10hp flywheel to theK341. TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #6 Posted March 16, 2010 OOPS...... I guess I should have specified complete starter/generator set-up. That would include everything from the block outward. (bearing plate, flywheel, shroud, etc.) The Kohler flywheels are "zero balanced" and will interchange. (Didn't the CC 169 still have a small flywheel?) Kelly 1,033 #7 Posted March 16, 2010 Ok I didn't know that wish I did, I'm not changing it back now, Thanks TT I guess we are both right, you more than me. And Yes I believe the CC 169 was a small flywheel with starter gen. I had a guy here looking for one last summer, my engine came off a CC 1650
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #8 Posted March 16, 2010 Too many "if's", huh, Kelly? When in doubt, get the SAWZALL out! :omg:
Horse Rancher 0 #9 Posted March 16, 2010 the bearing plate and flywheel will interchange from 10hp k241 to the 18hp k361 I have done this several times with good sucess just remember to check crank bearings and reset end play on crank if it is a shallow pan you can use the cub cadet flat 10hp pan and a muont plate from raiders with a tecumseh and its a direct bolt in setup
TT-(Moderator) 1,162 #10 Posted March 16, 2010 if it is a shallow pan you can use the cub cadet flat 10hp pan and a muont plate from raiders with a tecumseh and its a direct bolt in setup Not on short frame tractors with the "low" hoodstand. The oil pan HAS to bolt directly to the frame.
