I have never seen an HL-6 yet myself.

But I'd think back in the day most owners may have just opted to drill the hood sides & mount there own.

Thats also a prime location for getting knocked off or broken.

I can't imagine it was that popular of an accessory.

This is the original cyclops light with the GE lens and switch behind it. Although it was for a later tractor , it came on my 753. I believe it may be the rarest of all lights.

Think that's ugly? Someone put an old 50's era floodlight off a wrecker dead in the middle of the 876's hood , wish I had a picture of it . That thing was huge, 6" lens and all...

At least the Wheel Horse light was incorporated into the hood ornament area.

Granted it is not the most attractive light. It is however very effective. It puts out a lot of light in the right area ahead of the tractor, and the fact that it can be moved from the seat it works well as a guide light. The HL-5 lights although my favorite because how good they make the tractor look specially on a low tractor like a suburban, are not effective at all. Contributing to their ineffectiveness is the fact that the lenses are oriented incorrectly since the lights are really tilted about 90 degrees from their intended orientation, upright.

I dont think your D should have those holes on your hood. I believe that the D's didnt come with that light fixture cause haha they have the two front lights?? I think someone wanted to put some extras on or something like that.

Thats a sharp light Cas! I'm with you on that, definitely the most effective and useful light Wheel Horse provided as an option. Excellent pics and a sweet 753!

      Hi all,

i bought this 1961 701 in fall of 2018 and restored it. I completed it in fall of 2019 and I wanted to show some pictures of before during and after I got it done. I did my research and tried to make this tractor as close to original as possible. The few exceptions are tires, wiring and the steering support. Not a perfect tractor but sure is nice enough for me.

If anyone has a HL-5 Headlight setup on their Wheel Horse I would appreciate some help on getting the dimensions of the u-shaped pipe/tubing that the headlights attach to.

I decided that I can make a couple sets for our Lawn Rangers by using conduit and steel plate. I have some chrome headlights that will work with no probelm to the tubing.

The location of the muffler/exhaust on the tractor suggest the length of the tubing and angle has to be under ten inches to avoid any problem being close to the heat of the muffler and exhaust pipe.

Any help with this information would be appreciated.

Added the first replica HL-5 today on the 653, the first of a couple of dozen in the works. They are not connected yet, working on a bracket for switch.

Found these cheap lights on ebay that are virtually identical to the originals (except for quality of course) and less than $20.00 later including 1/2 rod here we have lights for another tractor.

I came across what I believe to be 60s headlights that were attached to the hood of a 1960 Suburban. The seller would not sell me the headlights separately so I bought the Suburban. The only identification on them is stencilled on the back. One headlight reads "PMCo 401" and the other reads "PMCo 402".
Can anyone shed some light on my purchase?
      Thanks,
      Dave
