dandan111 31 #1 Posted February 15, 2010 Have any of you guys heard of a kit to make the front snow blade lighter? I have been plowing with my 314-8 for years lifting this heavy blade. My kids are now getting older and I would love for them to be able to plow but their is no way they can lift this blade. Would a spring not let the blade have enough down pressure to plow correctly? clintonnut 126 #2 Posted February 15, 2010 The lift assist was for the snowblower only. You can make the blade easier to lift by putting the rod in a hole closer to the pivot point on the lever. All about leverage . You could probably use a spring and hook it from the blade to the frame but it might not let the blade have enough down pressure. Just try experimenting. Kelly 1,033 #3 Posted February 15, 2010 I'm not sure if you can make one work on a snow blade, they work on blowers and tillers. You just need to buy a hydro tractor with hyd. lift easier to drive and lift the plow.

bitten 134 #5 Posted February 16, 2010 I dont know but maybe check to see that you have the lift rod in the right slot. Good Luck.
MikesRJ 558 #6 Posted February 16, 2010 The official Wheel Horse kit looked like this: http://www.mywheelhorse.com/graphics/file/...tKit_803954.pdf Fairly simple to make yourself if you can make the metal part, have it welded and can get the spring locally. dandan111 31 #7 Posted February 16, 2010 Mike, It looks like the spring is at a angle, maybe being set up like that would keep the down pressure. Thank you for the link.
MikesRJ 558 #8 Posted February 16, 2010 It's not for down-force, hence why they call it a lift assist. When you pull the Lift Handle toward you the Lift Arm connected to the blower moves forward to raise the blower. The spring reduces the pull-back force at the Lift Handle by approximately 50%. WheelHorse_of_course 99 #12 Posted February 17, 2010 Welllll Slightly off topic , but still relevant I think... Is there any sort of lift assist for implements that do not use the lift rod and flag? Specifically I have found that Brinly accessories attached to the slot hitch ( see adaptor here: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?...hl=sleeve+hitch ) are really hard to lift. Is there some other lift assist for rear-hitch accessories?
BPC23 18 #13 Posted March 18, 2010 Just for the record, here's the lift assist used with a snowthrower. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?...topic=13977&hl= Brian
