Recommended Posts

Got bored making the clocks so I thought I would made something different..The original picture I drew this from was from whpny 's classified ad for the 953 a week ago..I could afford to buy his but wanted one so I made one, LOL

Wasn't sure where to post this as it is a tractor right?

What you think?

This was cut from 1/8" thick craft plywood..I just got done cutting so they are not sanded, finished and framed yet..Made 3 at a time by taping the boards together..

Now I got to find me another good picture to of another model.. B)

Thanks,

Kevin

Thanks for the comments guys,

Just a bit of info on this 953 picture.. It took me about 4 hours to drill the 153 holes with my drill press and feed the saw blade through each hole to cut each one of those holes out..Also takes about 1 hour to make the drawing for the pattern..I use a software something like the link that TT used to make the drawings..But there is a lot more to it than just making a back and white drawing. Wish it was that easy, LOL Anyway you have to look for areas that you will cut out and make sure that when they would be cut that they do not fall out of the picture.Sort of like cutting the tires out on this..I had to connect a bridge so that when the tire is cut the wheel don't fall out of the picture..

John, Do you have a good close up picture of your loader/back hoe tractor that doesn't have a lot of background in the picture? I will give it a try..I am still practicing at this sort of stuff as far as making the pattern itself..Cutting it out is the easy part..just time consuming, LOL

Kelly, yes I was thinking of putting a red felt cloth behind the picture when I frame it..If I set up a booth at the Michigan show I will probably have these there to sell..

BTW When looking at the picture it don't look like there would be 150+ holes in it does it? I have done portraits that had over 1000 holes in them before..That takes for ever to cut those out, LOL

That's a nice piece. Even more impressive that you're doing it by hand. I was beginning to think maybe you had one of those fancy Craftsman Compu-carve units. Very nice job.

Moving this down to non-tractor though, as it's really about your woodworking hobby.

Thanks Jason for the nice comments

I do get a lot of people asking if I cut my stuff on a laser machine or something..When I tell them how its done they act as though I am kidding with them or something..

Thanks,

Kevin
