Snow Storm #2

Recommended Posts

1056

Here we go again.

Storm #1 gave us 14'' and the wind slowed way down in the afternoon.

This time they are calling for 18'' and 20-30mph winds for up to 24hr.

I was almost done cleaning up on Saturday when I broke a tierod B) . With 3 zip ties and a little finesse I got done before dark.

Picked up new tierod yesterday ($34  ) and installed.

I think this summer I need to look at taking 2 old plows and making a V blade :hbd:

Hey 1056,

Where are you located? Tell me it's above the Arctic Circle and not in the lower 48 or anywhere near Ohio....I don't want anymore snow. I knew we would pay a price for the moderate and pleasant summer and fall.

I love the temporary fix of a tierod with three zipties! B) Tell me, is that that what I should now include in my WH emergency kit?? ....I still stand by "baling wire and duct tape".

How much snow did you have for the first snow and what were you using to clear it? Hang in there, just 8 more snows after the forsythia blooms!

Keep us posted.

Moved most of the first snow (14'' and drifts of 3') with a 8hp walk behind snowblower.

Cleared my driveway (150 yards), and 2 neighbors driveways (100 yards & 50 yards).

And zip ties are the new bailer twine B) at least it is here in S. Central PA.

Hey, I like your idea of a V blade. Might try that myself. Has anyone here done this? Any pics or tips?

YA !

I think a V-blade might work better when the snow starts getting deep.

We're finally supposed to get something this time as well. They are calling for 6-12", and I hope that it's on the higher side so I can really test out the snow blower which I have almost never used!

It just started about half an hour ago here in Butler. If It snows like this until tomorrow noon, we will have another 25 inches. Pittsburgh is still using the National Guard to help clean up. We tied the record her for 93 and 96.

Here is the Akron Ohio area last Saturday we recieved about 12 to14 inches and it began to snow here again this morning about 11am. We are to get another 8 to 14 by Wed evening. And the local new channel says maybe another round this weekend but didn't say details. After a while you run out of places to puch this stuff and the snow blower idea is looking real good!

Got 3 new inches on top of the 24+ that came over the weekend, so the B-100 is all gased up and ready to plow. Going to let it snow another 2" before I make the first run.

Well, we got about 8" of very nice plowing and blowing snow (not to wet). then about 4:00 AM this morning we had a 3.8 on the righter earthquake. The epicenter was about a mile from my house. My daughter shot out of bed and ran outside. Shook the heck out of things for about 20 seconds. No reported damage or injuries. I really like the snow over the earthquake. B)

Have fun - Us Northern New Englander's are just chilling watching it on the TV. I have not had to use the blower in about 20 days. Quite and cold winter thus far...

An inch?? Thats almost 3 times more than what we have here B) .

It is just starting to snow a bit harder so maybe it'll become something plowable before nightfall.

Well, I'm back in from round three. 10PM last night blew 6" off the driveway. This morning at 8AM I blew a foot off, the last run was another 6", and the weather heads are saying this will go on until midnight tonight. It appears the storm raged up the coast taking a right below Delaware and is now wrapping around Northern NJ, south through PA and back out to sea through MD and DE. Nasty little counter-clockwise rotation on this storm. Oh, did I mention they said it picked up a lot of moisture while it was off the coast? B)
