British cooking terminology

My wife is a big Damon Albarn fan (Gorillaz) and he has a cheesy potato recipe (ok you can stop giggling now, I hear you!). Anyway, this recipe calls for this mess to be baked in the oven at 350 mark 4. She is asking me what mark 4 means? I thought perhaps that our international membership may know the answer to this?

Not to steal the thunder, but that's the setting for a gas oven.

Mark 4 = 355 degrees. (The fourth "mark" on the knob)

Well I can pull out my sign now :imstupid: , I knew this was probably going to be a simple answer. My wife was reading over my shoulder and rolled her eyes at the fact we didn't know that  We've got an Elec stove, who knew? OH yeah TT did

At the very least, TT is an analytical thinker.

In contrast, I sat here for 10 minutes trying to figure out why our stove didn't have detents on the knob.

THEN I realized it's electric.... :D
