Could have been me that posted that link. I did so WRT the diode replacement he describes lower down.

I did that repair on an A-80-E and it solved the "not charging battery" problem. A pair of diodes cost me almost $2 at Radio Shack. Three days later I found the same diodes on the shelf at American Science and Surplus for $0.20 each. I got so excited about that that I bought $2 worth and offered pairs to anyone on RS who wanted them.

Sadly, no one ever took me up on the offer (which still stands) and the diodes are sitting next to me on a table collecting dust.

Incidentally, I contact the guy that put that information up and he has a GT-14.

Unfortunately my issue is not the diodes.I have dozens of the original ones. It is definitely the charging coil since there is 0 AC voltage coming from coil into the regulator.

Short of a hidden broken wire it is definitely the charging coil.I want to know what it looks like so I obtain one prior to taking the flywheel off so I don't go through all the work twice or have a dismantled engine for a while.

Does that coil have two or just one post between the two coils? The mounting post is obvious but I don't really see another one. So far all the replacement coils I found have two posts. They all seem to be Tecumseh part # 61111. Would they work if in fact they have an additional post, probably making the whole assembly longer?

It only has the one projection where the mounting bolt is located with one charging coil post on either side.

I have another coil assembly around here somewhere I'll check out - IF I can find it. B)

i would think there is a wire touching or broken somewhere, there isnt a hole lot that can go wrong, I did have to replace the small pads under my coils once due to a similar problem...I would remove them clean the poles real good,,,replace the pads and see what happens. (Rememeber when you remove the bracket to mark where the bolts are...this is how the timing is set

i have been searching for hours. and this pic looks like my unit, minus the coils on the stator. it's from a L-157. so would that mean that this is not original? i'm just finishing a rebuild of an h-60, and i would be heartbroken if i cannot recharge a battery. any input or pics of the wiring of the charging system would be appreciated.(and i have already looked at every wiring schematic out there). i started to wonder when i looked at the rectifier board, and realized there are no wires coming from my ignition system to hook them too. f*****g tecumseh is giving me a headache. if nobody can help, at least give me a for trying to figure out a damn tuccky, :omg:

Sorry, probably not. There's a slim chance that maybe I'll find a block to suit that engine and put it back together.
