Scandenavian Wood Stove ID

Recommended Posts

MikesRJ

I was given a wood stove for free. Unfortunately it does not have any identifying marks, ID plates or casted-in reference as to who made the unit. I've searched all over the internet looking for models similar and only came up with one ( http://www.jotul.com/en-us/wwwjotulus/Main...-CB-Black-Bear/ ). The original owners have no idea as it came with the house.

Has anyone seen something like this, or know the manufacturer? Thanks.

Huntsman Woodstoves had a design like that with the two-tiers. I don't know if they are still in business. Many of the johnny-come-lately stove manufacturers of the 1980 have ceased to exist. You can find some pictures on eBay occasionally of these stoves.

Here you go ... Like I said, there are no markings anywhere on this one. I have not looked at the bottom, but expect I will not find anything there either.

Looks like a small camp stove model that someone has designed a top trap(for heat) like the bigger Buck stoves have. Lot's of small stove companies have started up with the heating fuel costs soaring, I'd bet the stove came with ID tags fixed to it by a small cable with instruction plates attached and the PO cut them off.

I see it has a option for rear venting too? Looks like a good little non-cat stove! Maybe it was even meant for a boat option install??

There are a few stove makers out there that still do the plate with the cable type thing but have also installed the model number plate to the back of the stoves too, because of your issue. Good luck!

Thanks Gerry,

It has venting option for right, left and rear. Wish I knew who made it. It'll wind up heating my shop as soon as I can afford the double-wall stack.

Your welcome Mike,

The flue though the ceiling/attic area is the cost, but I personally like the double wall inner pipe too. Decreases clearance inside to the wall! Best of luck!

(I enjoyed your "voting" post too!)

keep a watch on craigslist for double wall chimney. its can get expensive buying new. i have a stove in my house and garage. i got lucky and found a local wholesale place that was getting out of the wood stoves . i did both my chimneys with metal-besto stainless double wall pipe for around $400 each a few yrs back. in the house i have 6" and garage is 8". the local fireplace stores wanted $700-$800

someone on this link will know what your stove is - http://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/
