eBay Seller Warning

Recommended Posts

rmaynard

There is a seller on eBay selling Wheel Horse parts.

BEWARE. He takes your money and does not ship. Been waiting since 12/22/09 for a response to my purchase.

I hope that this person is not a member of RedSquare. If you are, please PM me.

His eBay seller I.D. is sparky030798

I did pay by PayPal. I have opened a case against him. I really want the item, but if I can't get him to ship, I will get my money back.

My wife used to work for Pay Pal collections and they will ALWAYS favor the buyer. No matter what. All you have to do is file and no item received form and you will get your money back pretty much right away.

Good luck to you.

It's gotten worse in the last week. I'm going to add to the misery if he doesn't cough up the dash assembly in the next couple of days.

Rick, you are right about checking, but the curious thing is that I actually contacted him before I bid and asked a few questions about the item. He seemed honest and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. Then I bid and won and he vanished into thin air.

Just my luck.

What can a person do if a claim is more than 60 days old??? I kinda got took on a blade for my Suburban, but then again so did the seller. He got locked out of his Pay Pal account before he got the money I paid. He couldn't prove shipment of the last three items sold, to get back into his pay pal account, because my item was the 3rd and he couldn't get to the money to ship my item. :banghead: Talked and kept in contact wih the guy for the first 3 months, by then it was to late to do anything, oline, through e-bay either. What can I do to get my money back or get my item???

When someone tells you that they can't get to your money because their PayPal account is locked, it is usually because they are truly a deadbeat. The account is locked because of too many issues. eBay and PayPal are real good now about settling with buyers, not so good with sellers. They usually find in favor of the buyer.

eBay allows you to file a claim no sooner than 10 days, and no later than 45 days. After that, the only course of action is legal. Contact the consumer protection agency in the state where he lives. Been there, done that, still lost my money.

Best bet in the future is ALWAYS pay with PayPal. If the seller doesn't accept PayPal, don't deal with them. If you do use PayPal, always file that claim on a timely basis and don't pay attention to what the seller is telling you.

Bob

Even though the complaint may be from 2 months ago or even longer, you can still file the complaint.

Go into ebay and go into the resolution center and file your complaint with eBay. eBay will then attempt to contact the seller regarding your complaint.

If the seller does not respond within, I think, 10 days, Pay Pal will then reverse the funds transfer from your account to his. (Even if there is no money in his account. He would then be sent to collections if there is no money in the account or goes into a negative balance.)

Once you have "won" your complaint, you should get your money back within approx. 10 days.

There is no time limit or restriction on when you can file a complaint on a specific item.

Let us know your outcome!

There is a time limit, what it is I can't remember... something like 90 days.. 160 days  A year after a transaction you're not going to be able to reverse the charges. That would mean that every transaction is open for god knows how long?

I am currently waiting for two items that I won on ebay. It has

been a week now. Usually after no contact for a week I send a pleasant

reminder asking if my item has shipped. Sometimes sellers forget to send

the item. They don't seem to forget to claim their money from Paypal though.

If I don't see the items in a month I will not hesitate to file a claim with

paypal and leave negative feedback. I never had to do either but there

always is a first time. Just a waiting game now.

Larry,

What was the seller's ID?

I really don't want to give that information yet. I am still

hoping the items will show up. Although over a week to receive

an item is over the average I usually see I have waited close to

three weeks before. I did open a dispute with ebay once and it

was if someone lighted a fire under the seller. Item arrived within

days. I can let you know that it is not the same seller you are dealing

with and feedback, although positive, does complain about slow

shipping.

There are lots of reasons why someone might not ship something, and I'm not saying that this seller is dishonest. Just be sure that all the facts are in a row before posting someone's name as being a bad guy, if you're curious you can always use PM.

several years ago i bought a John Deere 110 on e-bay, about 200 miles away. I paid for it immediately after i won the auction. A few days later went to pick it up and found out the seller had mis-represented the item. He refused to make good on it so i loaded the tractor up and took it home. I opened a complaint against him the next day in the dispute resolution forum. To make a long story short, his pay-pal account was froze, and he had to make it right with me. The thing is he had at the time something like a 400+ rating, with about 99.4% positive feedback. I now use pay-pal for every transaction. You really have to be careful.
