Schooner 0 #1 Posted January 9, 2010 I have a 257-h with the original snow thrower. The blower attachement is in working order, but it is very rusty and looks tired. I am wondering if I can attach a newer Toro 2 stage snow thrower like I have seen for sale? Is the perfermance better? Any drawbacks? Will the 257 handle the extra nose weight? Thanks in advance for any replies...
Sparky-(Admin) 19,593 #2 Posted January 9, 2010 I'm thinkin that we need model #s off the blower you are looking at to buy. The biggest factor is wheather the blower was made for a horizontal crank or a verticle crank (like yours) tractor. Mike........
Schooner 0 #3 Posted January 9, 2010 I will work on getting the numbers. The Tractor it came off of was a newer Toro that said wheel horse also, don't know the model number, but it looked to be the same set up as my older Wheel Horse with just a more modern nose covering the engine. Pulleys on the blower seemed to be in the same spot. Only real difference seemed to be a taller chute with the second stage.
Schooner 0 #4 Posted January 9, 2010 I belive the model number is 79360
Sparky-(Admin) 19,593 #5 Posted January 9, 2010 My blower is a 79360 and its on a 1995 416-H which is a horizontal shaft tractor. Its also a single stage blower with the tall chute. It will not work on your tractor as yours is a verticle shaft tractor. Mike......
Schooner 0 #6 Posted January 11, 2010 Thanks Mike, Too bad as I really wanted to buy one with the taller chute. Oh well.
Schooner 0 #7 Posted January 11, 2010 Just got the model number. It's 79262. Will that model number work on my vertical shaft?

Schooner 0 #11 Posted January 14, 2010 Okay, thanks Duke, I guess the better question is "what snow blower attachments will work on my 257-H?" Should I just suck it up and repaint the old short nozzle thrower that I have? Thanks, Chris
