i have about 12 neighbors. and all are so far great and eather we leave each other alone. or just the oppisite . i have a state cop accross the street and we get along great . i get out and do the sidewalks for most of my neighbors . and the end of there driveways , due to the snow plows . i work on there machines from time to time . and we all get along . but i agree with you !!! never lend out your wheel horse or any other tractor for that matter to any neighbor that doesnt no what there doing . also something will always break . :banghead: or it never comes back the same . just do it for them .

I have good neighbors and do most of there drives when it snows and I have the time. I will not let anyone use my Horses, not even my brother. I found out the hard way not to lend out equipment. I have had this Troy built tiller for years, you know the older heavy duty ones, I was busy one day and a neighbor wanted to use it and I let him. He had it a total of 10 minutes when his son came and got me saying something was wrong with it. He had broke both belts on it( dont know how he did it. "just going along and made a sound and quit") and didnt even go get belts for it. I havent used the tiller for some time but would like to if I wanted to, that is why I still have it. I got the belts myself and they are sitting on a self. He sent his son over to borrow a chain saw to trim some trees, I had some extra time so I went and did the trimming, but that chain saw was not leaving my hands.

It might be hard sometimes but you are allowed to say no.

It would never occur to me to even ask a neighbor to borrow something like a garden tractor...to me it is a small step from asking to borrow your truck or car. Ummm...No....

There are very few people even close friends that I would loan a tractor to. It would be based for one thing on how they maintain their own equipment.

Personally I would not want to borrow something like that. I would feel awful and obligated to fix anything that breaks even if it wasn't my fault.

I think your neighbor was out of line and put you in an awkward position. Better to have her be unjustifiably angry now than cause significant hard feelings if her kids break your wheel horse.
