Max had a good day yesterday, blood counts are still good, no transfusions, he will get off a few meds this weekend and hopefully the nightly shots. We did not get to meet with Doc as he was quite busy and we should be able to see him on Tues, Max will go back on Fri for blood counts and get scheduled for his MRI to view the cancer status coming up within a week or so, a couple days after that he will get his Broviac line taken out and a lumbar puncture. between these two tests the tumor board will be able to look at where the cancer stands. He is going to be scheduled for radiation soon as well and that will be five days a week for 4 to 6 weeks most likely. Max has been outside riding his new quad almost daily and his energy level continues to get better. There is a link below showing his riding skills. This will all turn around after radiation begins and he will begin to feel ill again but for now he can keep feeling better and having fun. Max had an article written on him in the Pioneer and Osceola Edition recently and the second half will come out today, I will check with the Newspaper to see if it is ok to post the article here. Max's Mood is getting better too, he is wanting hugs and letting me and Jodie freely kiss his beautiful bald noggin. Thank you all for continuing to follow Max in his journey

11,000 young people are diagnosed with cancer every year.

Each year about 2,300 children and teenagers die from cancer.

Although cure rates are steadily increasing, 35% of children will die from a diagnosis of cancer.

36 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer everyday in the United States.

One in every four elementary schools has a child with cancer.

The average high school has two students who are current or former cancer patients.

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15 in the United States.

The causes of most childhood cancers are unknown. At present, childhood cancer cannot be prevented.

Childhood cancer occurs regularly, randomly and spares no ethnic group, socioeconomic class, or geographic region. In the United States, the incidence of cancer among adolescents and young adults is increasing at a greater rate than any other age group, except those over 65 years.

One in every 330 Americans develops cancer before the age of 20.

Many of the principles of therapy used in treating adults with cancer were first tested and developed in children.

The cancer death rate has dropped more dramatically for children that for any other age group due solely to research.

Despite these facts, childhood cancer research is vastly and consistently under funded.
