We raised $1,500 for Max

Recommended Posts

Guys, I just had the pleasure of sending the following note to Tom Nunn:

On behalf of the members of the Red Square Wheel Horse Collectors forum, I would like to present to you our donation of $1,500.00

Dear Max,

I have sat here for days trying to figure out what to say to you and about the members of Red Square and I can't seem to find the words, so I'll just send you my thoughts. Merry Christmas Max, we are all sorry to see you spend a holiday in the hospital, but please know that there are a lot of people who really care about you and want to see you get better soon. We're all pulling for you buddy, and we're all proud to be part of Team Max.

The gift of Christmas isn't wrapped up in presents or parties, but it is the caring and love of people just like you. I have the privilege of representing some of the greatest people in the world who are brought together by a little red tractor called a Wheel Horse.

A couple of years ago, a man by the name of Chris thought it would be a good idea to create a place to just talk about tractors. So he took the time to find a place where everyone who shared his hobby could meet. We now call this place Red Square. It wasn't long before word got out that Red Square was a place where people who loved Wheel Horse tractors could join together and share their tractors, experiences, and most importantly friendship.

As we grew it became obvious just how special this group of people were. When someone needs help with something our members are there to help. Because you have a Wheel Horse tractor, we consider you our little Wheel Horse Buddy, kind of like a Team Wheel Horse. Then when we found out that you wanted to sell your tractor to get an ATV, well we did what we do best and that is to help out our buddy.

We do this because it's the right thing to do, and we think that you deserve it. You're very strong, and we all appreciate what you are going through. Stay strong, you're going to get through this and be riding that ATV ,and when you do, it will make everyone here very happy and very proud to be part of Team Max!

One more thing Max. As this is being read to you, we need you to do one thing for us if you could. Look at your Mom, Dad, Sister and everyone in the room with you and smile.

Merry Christmas,

Karl and your buddies at Red Square

Dear Tom and Jodie,

God bless you for keeping strong with what you are going through. As we read and follow Max's story, many of us look at our own children and hug them just a little harder. It's unimaginable what you are going through, but one thing is clear, Max is getting his strength from you, and it makes him and you even stronger.

Keep the faith, and know that you have a lot of people in your corner. Let's get this licked, and hope that the doctors learn to make it better for others in the future.

And now a note to all of you!

The Gift

When my kids were very young, and they still are, I would watch them unwrap their new toys on Christmas. Their eyes would light up as they saw their new doll, or truck and the bright colored box that it came in. As they scrambled to tear all the wrapping paper off each and every present they grew even more excited. It's Christmas, and as all kids know it's the time of year when their dreams come true. They would play all day with their trucks and dolls, and as all parents know, the box them came in because the box is just as much fun as the toy is right?

Well it's not the doll, truck or even the box what makes it a gift. The gift is the love they feel knowing that someone is thinking of them. They may not say it, but I know that they feel it. After a while, the doll gets put away, the truck in the garage and the box at the recycler but the memory of that Christmas will stay with them forever. I'm sure you can all think back at Christmas past, do you remember the truck, doll, box or even the color of the wrapping paper? I know I don't, but I do remember my family sitting there smiling, seeing me smile, that's the love, the true gift of Christmas.

This year, the members of Red Square gave a gift to Max Nunn. A gift from the heart, something that this little boy will remember for years to come. Max wants to buy an ATV, and with your help I am sure he'll get it. He'll ride that ATV, and all his neighbors are going to say, "There goes that darn Max Nunn again" but in time that ATV will get too small, and he may sell it for a bigger one and that's just fine, because the real gift will be with him forever. And in time, Max may even forget about his ATV, exactly what color it was or how many CC's it was, but I am certain that he will always remember the gift he has received.

You, the members of Red Square, through your thoughts, donations and love have presented Max with a gift, and in turn Max has given a gift to you. It's personal exactly what that gift is for each of us, but I know that Max has touched each and every one of you in one way or another, and that gift will also last with you forever. Today, a little boy hopefully got a little happier. He has a long way to go, and his strength, courage, perseverance and love will carry him through his toughest challenge of today and those yet to come.

As I sit here writing this, I can't help but to think what Max will tell his children about Christmas? What stories will he share with his little ones about what Christmas is all about, will it be the doll, truck or bright colored box? I really don't know but I'm sure that the story will include a little red tractor and the wonderful loving people who own them, and that is the story of Christmas 2009, a Red Square Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all from everyone at Red Square!

Merry Christmas Max! May God bless you and your family. I can't wait until you get your quad. I hope you spend all day dreamining about driving it through the snow, on trails, and in your back yard. My prayers are also said for your family and friends. A special thanks to all the Wheel Horse fans. Karl, has done a wonderful job here on RS.

As we spend today opening gifts and sharing a time of love with our families, I ask each of you to truly say a prayer to God. Thank Him for what you have and thank Him for Max. Ask Him to heal Max and ask Him into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior. He still is the same God that made the lame to walk and the blind to see.

With Love,

Mike Martino

Karl, thank yo for stepping up to the plate and organizing the fun raiser for Max Nunn. You pulled all of us together, each of us contributing what we could. You proved that a group working together, can affect positive change in the world.

So often all of us feel powerless to improve the world, you gave all of us hope that we can make a difference, and make the world a better place. But more importantly you allowed all of us to give hope to Max and his family. All us crusty old stoic Wheel Horse Nuts, have been reaching for the kleenex as we read all the e-mails about Max and his family, and we realize how truly blessed we are.

So thanks again Karl for getting us all to reach into our hearts and share some of our love with Max and his Famliy on this Christmas.

Joe in Norton

P.S. to all my brother Wheel Horse fans, please join me in extending Three cheers to Karl, we should all be proud to be members of such a find group as Red Square,

but be even more proud to have a member such as Karl who encourage us to rally together to bring some joy to the Nunn family.

Thank You Karl, Mike and all the Redsquare members for your generousity in making a young boy and his family realize that there are people out there that really care. I hope one day his dad Tom will have pictures posted of Max riding his new 4 wheeler for all of us to see. Hope you all had a great Christmas and remember to keep the Nunn family in your prayers. Thanks again to a great group of individuals whom I'm proud to be associated with. :notworthy:

To all the kind folks at red square, The gift that you have given Max is going to provide a great deal of happiness for him, not just when he gets home but while we shop for it while in the hospital he will get to think about it and hopefully dream about it in his sleep. It will be a couple of days before he feels well enough to even look at pictures on the computer. So far his requirements are that it be camo in color and have a rack as in a utility model for his hunting gear. He had a knock off brand one over the summer due to the fact that I had to find one on very short notice with keeping cost in mind as we had to pick it up while leaving the hospital, but we will get name brand this time so it will last him for years of pleasure, He is very safety conscience rider and I believe we will gear towards a little over 100 cc as he is skilled for a seven year old and will not abuse the power. I will post a link of Max for those who have not seen it, showing off some of his driving skills last winter this time. Keep in mind he was five just shy of six years old in the video. He also backs up my full size truck to help me hook up to my tool trailer at times as well as goes out to start his moms car for her on cold mornings, he has skills well beyond his age.

I have been thinking all day about what you here at Red Square have done and will think of your generosity every time I see him ride it. I have read all of your posts regarding Max several times and get allot of comfort from reading them.

Max will keep his Wheel Horse and for that I am glad, When he first said he wanted to sell it I was happy because it would be one less thing I would have to maintain and work on, but now it has allot more history and he will need to pass it on to his children, I used to haul it up to Buckley, Michigan years ago to show it in an old engine show when I first restored it, Now I look forward to next summer when he can ride it in the parade there. Perhaps we will be able to find a local Wheel Horse show to go to as well.

I will close for now but will stop back and be a part of your group, I will have to get familiar with the forums and perhaps one of you might be able to give me some good tips on the carb in his tractor as it hiccups once in a while and probably needs rebuilt, I also have some extra dash panel decals for it that were custom reproduced on the original foil type paper if there is someone who needs one.

My gratitude to each and every one of you cannot be expressed enough, Thank you all, Me and Max will be in touch, Happy Holidays to you all.
