dunk50 6 #1 Posted November 16, 2009 Well I had the C-160 all tore down, sheet metal painted and starting to work on the frame, motor etc.. Wife complaining about stink of cleaners and paint and garage being a mess. Told me to quit horsing around and have that NEW GARAGE BUILT THAT I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED!!! They are starting today!! Yahooo Won't be huge but it will be dedicated to hobby stuff. 14 X 24 fully insulated, attached to house with overhead garage doors on both ends. I live in a housing area so that is the biggest I can build but I will make it work. Photos to follow. 160 on hold during construction. For those of you with a lot of room and storage this is no big deal, for those of you with no garage, shop, man cave etc, YOU will understand. :notworthy:

pbradley68 1 #7 Posted November 18, 2009 If you have hot water heat you may want to consider adding a zone for radiant floor heat in garage slab. I did my house in radiant floor heating and also the basement slab and it's a really nice even efficient heat. Even if you're not going to heat with it in the near future it may be worthwhile installing the tubing in the slab for future use. I used a free trial version of LoopCad software to design my heating loops which helped a lot.

bmuone 15 #11 Posted November 18, 2009 Great timing for building a shop. Well......anytime is great for that! When we built our carport with storage area, the day I put the door knobs on the doors I started a lean-to across the back for stuff. Study up on what you really want in there and stick to it. That is a good sized shop. Have a goodun...:notworthy:

KyBlue 655 #16 Posted November 19, 2009 Way To go! I know exactly where your coming from. We Currently Rent, so building a permanent structure is out.... and Trying to get stuff done in the house, just doesnt work, its a Major PITA and its Messy, takes longer, etc etc etc I built this 12x16, I wish it had a concrete floor, but we need to be able to take it with us...so My Floor is built in Four Sections, bolted together, supported at Nine spots. The Walls are built in 4 Foot Setions, and those too, are bolted together. The only thing I wont be able to save is the Roofing when it comes time to move it. here's a couple photos

KyBlue 655 #18 Posted November 19, 2009 Less than 1500, but i've got to get the rest of it wired (have some of the lights, and the fuse panel in) Still need to add a couple more lights, and all the outlets, and get it tied into the house Oh, and get the roof finished too...
