D250 Update

Recommended Posts

Rideawaysenior

Well, I have a D250 update here. The engine is finally apart and the two sleeves that were holding me up are no longer a problem. The pistons had settled at the bottom of the sleeves so I filled them with water and heated them with an acetelyne torch. I had a chain wrench on the sleeves and applied slight pressure. They came off with no problem. Another thing that many other D250 owners may want to have in the back of their minds when looking for parts, Renault used this engine in the Dauphine that was made in 1964. I ordered a gasket set for it and have found the psiton rings as well as many other components the same. the only difference is that the engine block exterior mounts are configured a bit differently. I'll keep the group posted with more progress and pics on my site when I get some.

Jack

There have been some discussion here on where Renault used that engine in other applications. Good to know.
