Any patio seating worth looking at for a Wheel Horse owner

Recommended Posts

I run a mid-80s Wheel Horse with a K&B-style deck and spend a lot of weekends out in the yard, so the patio area gets used hard between mowing sessions. I am starting to look at outdoor furniture for next season and the options online are a bit overwhelming. What I care about is something that holds up in Michigan weather, does not get too hot to sit on in July, and will not need constant cover and maintenance. I am unsure whether metal frames or the resin wicker style are the better bet for a covered but unheated space. I found some third-party info online about what tends to survive a few winters, but real-world experience from people here matters more to me. If you have patio seating you have actually lived with through a few seasons, I would appreciate hearing what has worked and what you would skip.

We have a set like this that has been outdoors 24 / 7 /365 for nearly twenty years and has held up very well.

That style does hold up very well and is very comfortable. The biggest enemy is too much direct sunlight. It will weaken the fabric over time.

Fortunately, you can buy replacement fabric inserts. I help my neighbor redo a couple chairs with new inserts. Tough job, but doable!

If it's in a semi-protected area, and you keep it clean, they seem to hold up for several years.

We have wrought iron furniture around our firepit and keep cushions nearby in the garage. Even so, the finish is susceptible to sun over time.
